There are some great places to visit along the Rio Grande and the highlights are found at Santa Elena and Boquillas canyons. There are plenty of other areas to dip your toes in the water throughout Big Bend NP and perhaps more peacefully, in the...More

This is an easy, pleasant 30 minute drive from Panther Junction with many options to stop and hike along the way. This is a wild, remote stretch of border that is more than worth the trip out to see it.Big Bend backs up to a...More

We admired the Rio Grande river from numerous areas of the Big Bend National Park. The river is nothing exciting but makes a great contrast in the desert. We would have loved going kayaking there.

The river is shallow and narrow in a lot of places but its formation of the canyons and landscape make for a beautiful landscape.

I have always wanted to see the Rio Grande and when I got there it was depressing. I was only able to see a small section that had water. Hopefully I can go back when it is not dried up.

This river isn't very wide, but it managed to cut through rock to make canyons. You can see it best at the nature trail at Rio Grande Village, Boquillas Canyon & Santa Elena Canyon. Skip the Rio Grande Overlook after the tunnel to Rio Grande...More

After watching so many Westerns growing up and reading books about this river, it was great to be where I had pictured for so many years. The river has a quiet serenity to it and Mexico is literally a stone's throw away!
