Gorgeous adobe fort is worth a visit

I love National Park Service parks and sites. Watch for the signs because this is not near anything else. The adobe fort is in great condition. We shared the fort with a high... read more

This reconstructed fort is a very interesting place to visit and the attention to detail in all the rooms is amazing. The parks movie about the site is very informative and so are the staff there. You really feel like you have stepped back in time here. I would not necessarily recommend the trail. It doesn't really have much to... More

Bent's Old Fort is a bit out of the way, but if you are in the area it is worth the time. It is a restored fort along the Santa Fe Trail in southeaster Colorado. Liesurely walk through the site with many period pieces including what has to be the largest pol table I have ever encountered. Stop by, you... More

I love National Park Service parks and sites. Watch for the signs because this is not near anything else. The adobe fort is in great condition. We shared the fort with a high school group on a field trip. The kids were well-behaved and most were interested and listened to the docents. We enjoyed learning about the fort and recommend... This old "fort" on the Sante Fe trail, on it's own merits, is an amazing place, and tells a great story of an era gone by. It could be even better if the National Park Service personnel would do their job. This is an NPS "living history" site, where the seasonal park rangers and volunteers dress up in period garb... Great couple of hours . VERY informative guide. Surprising little known facts. Pretty warm day, air conditioned gift shop. Not particularly handicap accessible . Some stairs (30).

This authenticity recreated fort is a great window into a world that existed almost 200 years ago. Our first visit a few years ago was during a reenactment weekend and that was wonderful, but our recent second visit during the week was also pleasant because there were fewer visitors.

Bent’s Old Fort is an excellent site. Thank you to the Daughters of the American Revolution who championed the restoration of the fort. There is a short film that is excellent. Watch it before you explore the fort. We arrived too late for one of their guided tours led by docents dressed in period costumes. Our loss. The fort is... More

I had not visited the Fort since the early 1990;s and decided to take my Grandaughter who is 13. She and I both loved it. The Rangers and Interpreters of History were all dressed in appropriate attire for the period. It is very informative and best of all, the fees this year are waived due to the National Parks Birthday.... More

I can't say enough about this place. A recreation of a 1833 Trading Post/Fort. We brought our daughters here 25 yrs ago and brought our 16 and 18 yr old grandchildren back today. They said they enjoyed it. Hopefully they learned a little too. Great staff, friendly and knowledgable.
