My husband and I reserved a private ride as a way to really see the canyon. Des our guide was awesome. She took the time to learn about our riding skills and made sure to adjust the stirrups perfectly. Des was very knowledgeable and provided a great deal of local color during our ride. Biscuit and Blue our mounts were very able footed over the rough terrain. Our secondary guide and protective muscle Elvis (a rescue pup) made our ride that much better. We had a little excitement at the end of our ride that had us giggling all the way back to town. We can't wait to come back! Thank you Des!!

I'm a city girl and in my late 40s and this was the first time I ever rode a horse. While it would have been nice to have had a bit more education prior to the ride, I felt safe and that I was in good hands with the staff. They were very knowledgeable and friendly, and when my horse was giving me a hard time they switched me over to a different horse mid-ride. The scenery is absolutely and this was an amazing memory for me to make. I would just caution others who have never ridden that two hours may he a bit much as I suffered aches and pains for two days...well worth it, though!!!

My 9 year old daughter and I had the best experience with Moab Horses, our guides were a husband and wife that were amazing and made the experience so fun and enjoyable. The scenery was breathtaking and exactly what we were looking for in a Moab ride, the ride felt just long enough and we went through creeks and up and down hills, it was just a blast. We will do it again next time we are in Moab, my daughter can’t stop talking about it.

Our guides were very friendly and well versed in the area. The horses are well cared for and the tack was in good condition. My family and I had a wonderful time and we would totally recommend this adventure! We would love to return for another ride!

My family loved the trail ride we took with Moab Horses! The scenery was amazing, our guide, M, was great, and the ride out to the ranch was even beautiful. My kids (12 & 14) loved the horses and could have rode all day! We loved watching our guide's dog lead the way for us! I would recommend this trail ride for any family looking for something fun to do in Moab.

Took the kids (8 and 10) for their first riding experience, and Moab Horses did not disappoint. Barney and Genie were perfectly suited to the kids (and Misty and I got along famously, she and I are kindred souls). It's nothing fancy, a nose to tail walk through the desert, but stunning scenery and really friendly people. While waiting for our ride afterward, the ladies even showed the kids how to dunk their hats in the horse trough to cool off - they thought that was super cool. A really lovely beginning experience for the kids, one they're still talking excitedly about weeks later.

Amazing ranch with beautiful scenery. The trail ride was so much fun! Our wrangler/trail guide, Trace, was fantastic and was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the land and Moab. We will definitely book again and recommend to friends. Thank you for a great time!

Moab Horses is a dangerous company, run by a dangerous woman.

From the minute I arrived, I observed the woman who owns the ranch being aggressive and hostile towards guests. I watched her terrorize an adult woman and an 8 year old child. She should not be doing any job that involves working with people.

I really enjoyed our trail guide, who did everything he could to make the best of a bad situation. I do believe he was rattled from the interaction with the owner and made a few bad mistakes that led to the 8 year old getting thrown from her horse onto the ground.

When we returned to the ranch, her horse stepped on its lead rope multiple times, which led to her almost being thrown off again.

Again, the guide was deeply apologetic and kind, but that was an incredibly scary thing to witness and could have ended in a disaster and a hospital visit for that child.

Please, find another company to ride with. If they’re available, Red Cliffs Lodge is amazing. Do not give this woman your business. She’s willing to be harmful to people.

Do not go to this ranch!!!! It’s as bad as the other reviewers said.

These owners are downright abusive. The wrangler even apologized for the female owner’s abusive behavior and said she attacks guests often. He said she goes from “0 to 1,000,000 in aggressiveness instantly.

She almost got our child very seriously injured and she did get her thrown from her horse. It was traumatizing for her and she’ll likely never ride horses again.

Let me explain...

After getting lost (directions are mediocre), we arrived one minute before our scheduled ride. The owner came out chastising us and spewing crazy stories and being extremely aggressive. It shocked all of us. We had no idea what she was talking about.

She intimidated our 8 year old but foolishly, we decided to continue the ride.

The wrangler was clearly shaken up by her behavior but was extremely nice to us. He was helping our little one get her helmet tightened when the owner yelled at him not to help. (I know, we should have left!)

At one point during the ride, he got off his horse, stepped on his horse’s lead rope and his horse freaked out, causing our 8 year old’s horse to freak out and throw her hard to the ground.

After many tears, she was willing to get back on. When we got to the barn, the wrangler dropped the lead rope of her horse which the horse then stepped on which caused it to start bucking and jumping. Had our little one not held on for dear life, she surely would have been crushed. We were horrified as we watched the whole scene play out.

We don’t blame the wrangler. The owner’s abusive behavior clearly rattles him, causing him to make mistakes I don’t think he would have otherwise made.

In frustration and after feeling terrible about what he put our 8 year old through, he shared that the owner “often sabotages my rides” by being vicious to certain guests. I told him to work in a less abusive environment.

Pay attention to how this outfit responds to guest complaints on TA. They are aggressive and mean. it will tell you everything you need to know. The female owner very clearly has a personality disorder and needs help.

This is your life and these people are not responsible, safe people. Do not ride horses with them!!!!

p.s. As an aside, I’ve been riding for 30 years. I’ve been to at least 50 guest ranches. This place is the worst I’ve seen.

p.p.s. The other horses on the ride sucked. They bit each other. They pinned their ears back in aggressive ways. They didn’t listen.
