This was our first trip to SE Utah. We like to understand the history of the area and the CFI Arches tour is a great introduction. Half day in the late afternoon hitting some of the high spots with a knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed the information about this history, geology and general info. A great way to start our week... Timeless canyons and plant life, cliffs and ruts and driftwood trees beckon one to this mystifying place that nature created. Gina Roberti was our personal guide with Uncommon Journeys. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for her field of geology tells me she will go far in her career.

This guided tour was a highlight! It was a very small group for four hours late Sunday afternoon. Perfect light for photos. But the main benefit was the geological information provided by our great guide. Our experience was fun and educational - I wish more visitors would take advantage of this outstanding service! While weather is always interesting, we were hardly bothered by thunder/lightening. All 10 of us were so compatible and the guides were magnificent. The rapids were so exciting and the stars were amazing. Can't say enough good things.

We booked the 2-day colorado river family trip for our family of 5 (3 children) and this is so far one of the best travel experience ever. This trip is organized just for a family or private group so you are not together with other groups. You have one captain experienced in floating the Colorado river and another person guiding... If you like to know the history and geology of the parks you visit then I highly recommend the Canyonlands Field Institute. We visited the park on our own in the morning and afternoon and met up with our guide, Kevin, at 4:00. We started out with our educational stops right on the entrance road to the park where Kevin... We had an exceptional tour to the arches national park with our guide Kevin who is a geologist and biologist. He is the type of person who can transfer his knowledge in such a kind way that you enjoy every minute of it. This foundation also does a lot of voluntary work for teaching children in different topics, so by... More

Eco tour day trip with Kyler and Dave: fabulous! We loved learning how to "read the river" and paddle our way through some nice rapids on the Colorado River. It was a perfect setting for our mixed-age group--from 8yrs to 68yrs--to combine science/nature info (geology, ecology, water sourcing info, etc) with an outdoor adventure. And lunch was yummy: locally raised... More

Thanks so much for joining us! We are glad you had a great time learning how to read the river and experience the magic of the Colorado River. As with all our guides, Dave and Kyler are a wealth of naturalist knowledge and are eager to share with interested individuals such as yourselves. If you're ever back in the area... More

We had such a wonderful time on the river. We saw birds and many other tour groups but our tour group and tour guides Dave and Gina were the best. We learn a lot in a half day tour about the river and water rights and even worked on putting together a map on mountains, state and political boundaries. They... More

We at CFI are so happy you had a great time. Dave and Gina had a great time out on the river with you all and say hi! We are excited you enjoyed learning about the natural history as well as the political world that the Colorado River is a part of. We believe both aspects are crucial to understanding... More

We did three tours with Canyonlands Field Institute -- Moab's Ancient Past: Dinosaur Tracks and Native Rock Art, the sunset tour of Arches (which was really in the late afternoon/early evening, after the heat of the day and the peak of people), and a half-day float on the Colorado River. All three were great, and together they added up to... More

Rowdy is definitely not us. But, providing outdoor education on the Colorado Plateau, to inspire care of wild places and renew the human spirit definitely is! We are so excited when folks are able to join us on multiple trips to really get the story of this place from multiple viewpoints. If we can leave our visitors with a better... More
