In addition to the suggestions made by "myno1tips" I'd add Navajo Rocks and Magnificent 7.

Moab bike tours (4 Replies)
My husband and I are going to be in Moab Mem. Day wkend for 2 nights. We're interested in a bike tour. We're in shape, bicycle some here in FL but have not done mtn. biking. I was considering either the Klondike Bluffs or Dead Horse Point Single track tour with Rim Tours or the sunrise downhill with Moab Adventure Ctr. That one would leave us the day for hiking and exploring on our own. Has anyone done these tours or have a recommendation?

If you've never mountain biked before, I would go with something beginner oriented. A good ride would be something within Arches, for example. I think most of the companies offer a Courthouse Loop ride. This would be a great beginner ride with up-close views of the redrock monuments. Klondike Bluffs is an intermediate level trail that leads up to Arches but from what I consider to be a somewhat uninteresting direction. I don't think it would be a great introduction. The Dead Horse Point...More

3 Days in the Moab area...trying to prioritize. (11 Replies)
We will have 3 full days in Moab, October 9, 10 and 11. The general plan is to give one day each to Canyonlands and Arches and then do a full day mountain biking tour in Dead Horse State Park with Rim Tours (if it's not too late to book). Is this reasonable? I've been reading up in the forums and it seems like maybe we could knock out the highlights of Island in the Sky in half a day...what should we do with the rest of the day? Also, I really want to do the Delicate Arch hike for sunset one...More

Thank you! That really helps clear up some questions I was pondering in our schedule. We're actually driving in from Capitol Reef on Wednesday evening, but I was planning on taking 128 as we pull out of town to head home. I was looking for somewhere to stop on our route home, so that bit of advice is much appreciated!

For a visit to what you traditionally see in pictures of the Grand Canyon, you want the South Rim. However, many here take one of the tours that visits the self-named "West Rim" and enjoy it, so it IS an option. The canyon is twice as deep at South Rim vs. West Rim. Some clues to figure out if a tour is visiting West Rim or South Rim - - If it lands a helicopter on the canyon floor, it's the West Rim. There are no flights below the canyon rim in the National Park, which contains the...More
