That was fantastic! We are a family of 5, ages 17 to 48.
Everyone had fun and enjoyed the three day tour with Neil, who is extremely knowledgeable as a guide, as well as a wonderful and interesting person to spend time with.
Neil shared many interesting stories, showed us hidden places that none of our friends who visited Utah ever heard about. Neil is a wonderful driver too, he took us to many great places that you can get to only by driving through extreme roads, where you need a special driving skills and a huge fantastic truck :) I loved his truck!
We all enjoyed Neil's lunches that his awesome wife prepared for us :)She probably doesn't know that she is very much appreciated as well :)
I very much recommend, this is an unforgettable and pleasant experience!

4 Day tour of the Parks
Just did a 4 day tour with Desert Solitude. Wow! Amazing! Incredible! Expansive! There are not enough superlatives to describe this experience. Not only were the sights and the parks we visited a must see on anybody's bucket list, Neil's tender and supportive care went beyond any other tour I have ever been on. I have traveled the world over, from Bangkok to Tel Aviv, and never have I had such personal and caring detail delivered at every turn. From handwarmers to put in our pockets on a chilly morning hike, to a barbecue outdoors in a red rock canyon with nature all around. I had recently had some physical challenges that had worried me that I might not be able to do the hikes that I really wanted to do. Neil was so patient, and encouraging, as we tried small little hikes to longer and longer hikes, building my confidence and my strength so I was able to do a 3.3 mile hike on the last day! At 600 ft elevation drop and gain! It gave me a new lease on life as I had been mourning and thinking that hiking 😀was a part of my life I would have to give up. Thank you Neil for giving that back to me. What an incredible gift. If you possibly can do a 3 or 4 day tour it is so, so well worth it. So many parks and each one so different. I can't even pick a favorite, each so wonderful in its own way. You can't go wrong with Desert Solitude. IMHO the best tour company in the world!

Best decision we made on our vacation. While visiting SLC, we wanted to visit Capital Reef and Great Basin but felt it would not be possible, given that we were going to be there in February and the weather could be quite bad. Choosing Desert Solitude for a guided trip turned out great. Neil has a very comfortable vehicle for traveling and he made every minute of the trip about us. He took us to places we never would have found on our own. When the weather turned bad, we felt very safe with Neil driving. He was willing to give us as much time as we wanted in each location. We did not waste one minute of sunlight. I am very safety minded and the fact that he checked in with his wife several times during the day, made me feel confident that someone would come for us if there was any kind of emergency. His knowledge of the area is extensive. Just a great, great, trip.

Thank you Maureen! It was a treat for me to put together this custom trip for you. These are some of the less visited areas which makes them even more exciting to see again. I hope you are both doing well!

We had an INCREDIBLE time touring southern Utah for 6 days with Desert Solitude Tours. We had planned to see all 5 national parks but ended up seeing so much more. Our guide, Neil, was super accommodating and knew the right time to go into the parks to avoid the largest crowds. He helped us pick out activities that fit our group’s varying abilities. He even gave us options to do things outside of the parks which allowed us to see even more of what Utah has to offer. Every day was unique and gave us a chance to experience something new. It was so nice to be able to spend the day doing what we wanted on our schedule. Desert Solitude Tours is a must for your travel to Utah – you will not be disappointed!

My husband, grown daughter, and I booked the 6 Day Mighty 5 Parks Tour with Desert Solitude. If I could have given this tour 10*s, I would have. To actually experience Utah’s Five National Parks was a trip of a lifetime for all of us. From our first conversations with Neil through the entire trip, every detail was perfect. We were very lucky to have someone like Neil who thoroughly knows Utah’s parks and believes that families having fun actually experiencing these parks is what these trips should be about—not just looking at them and hoping back on a tour bus. Neil keeps these tours to 7 or less people so that everything can be personalized with no time limit in each thing you choose to do that day. He always gave us 3 activities to choose from each day—our choice not preplanned. We chose every day seeing the park, hiking at our skill levels, and off roading in his modified Suburban. Neil also gave us opportunities to do things after dark and I must say those were very memorable and fun! In addition, Neil would personally cook our lunches (he is a great cook) and take pictures of us ( great photographer also). He showed us photography tips on our IPhones and sent us many pictures to download at the end of our trip that he took. None of us had really ever hiked in the mountains so we were a little nervous about “could we do it”. I hope you will try these hikes as Neil will help you know exactly how to tackle each hike and you will experience the beauty of the mountains with great memories and new skill levels. The same with Off Roading which we never have done—we Loved it!! Like I said previously, this experience was the best and most memorable one we have ever done (we have taken many tours both in the US and abroad and never have we had this great of a time and done so many neat things!) Memories we’re created for a lifetime!! Do this tour or another one Desert Solitude offers—you will not regret it!!

My two adult sons and I just finished a five day “glamping” tour with Desert Solitude and couldn’t be more pleased. Their attention to detail is exceptional, from the decorative elements in the RV to the plating of the meals at the campsite (which was far removed from any other campers and situated within walking distance of spectacular cliff face). It was much like staying in a more upscale hotel, with the RV fully cleaned and reprovisioned upon our return from each day’s excursions. There were also plenty of campsite activities provided – from just sitting by a campfire to playing with remote controlled off-road vehicles on the adjacent rocks.

Add the great accommodations and meals to having a personal guide at Arches and Canyonlands, and it truly became a trip of a lifetime. Our guide, Neil Petersen, was genuinely invested in making our experience memorable. Never impatient, he let us take our time on the various hikes and encouraged us to explore areas that were a bit off the beaten track. Plus he is a wealth of knowledge about the National Parks in Utah as well as the other natural attractions in the area. As an added bonus, Neil is an excellent photographer and provided us with some great random and posed photos of our party. No selfies required!

I’d recommend Desert Solitude to anyone who is interested in a truly unique outdoor experience.

Neil Peterson, of Desert Solitude, is your guide if you want a fabulous experience in the National Parks of southern Utah. He spent 8 days with our group of 5 seniors guiding us through amazing hiking trails, driving us from park to park, providing us with delicious lunches (mostly grilled on his portable grill), and planning each day with us. This custom trip is the way to go to see this breath-taking part of the country.

The best private tour ever. I have so much fun I will highly recommend Neil’s he is a really nice person and you can have the best experience of your life. He picked up my boyfriend and I at our hotel early in salt lake city and drove us 3 and a half hours to Moab. We visited the arches national park the first day. Neil brought out his grill and make us delicious steak kebabs. We toured the park and saw all the major sights and did the best hiking. We went to dinner , then Went out off roaring and star gazing. The next day we say the canyon lands national park and had a great lunch again with Neil. It was an all out great experience and I will definitely do it again . Desert solitude is a great company for both family’s and couples Neil works around your needs.

We toured Arches and Canyonlands with Desert Solitude on a two-day tour. I told Neil, our guide, that I was interest in photography, and he certainly made sure I came back with incredible pictures. Neil was patient and good natured. I never felt rushed when I wanted to stop to take a shot. He shared information and history of the parks with the enthusiasm of someone who clearly knows and loves the area. Desert Solitude is the only way to go!
