This tour was by far the highlight of our trip. Neil our guide was amazing, knowledgeable, felt like an old friend from the minute he picked us up. Neil catered to our every need, toured, hiked, went at our pace, never felt rushed, he told us info along the way about the Arches Park, we had the time of our lives, an experience we will never forget! On a side note , I am a single mom who was traveling with my two teen kids, I felt comfortable and safe with Neil the entire time, he looked after us ( I was recently in a car accident and had no use of my right arm) he made sure we were safe, adventured with my kids in places I couldn't go, he treated my kids like his own, I can't tell you enough how fun and wonderful this trip is!!!! Such beautiful sites and scenery, we will never forget this adventure!!

Neil Peterson, of Desert Solitude, is your guide if you want a fabulous experience in the National Parks of southern Utah. He spent 8 days with our group of 5 seniors guiding us through amazing hiking trails, driving us from park to park, providing us with delicious lunches (mostly grilled on his portable grill), and planning each day with us. This custom trip is the way to go to see this breath-taking part of the country.

Neil Peterson, the owner of Desert Solitude, met us at the Salt Lake City airport with his customized, up-graded, top-of-the-line Chevy Suburban. He lead us (5 “seniors”) on a well planned, eight day, magnificent tour of the five National Parks in southern Utah, plus Goblin State Park, Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon and the unique topography of the San Rafael Swell. He dropped us off in Las Vegas for our flight home. The rooftop of his car carried 6 bag chairs and a protective luggage carrier. Each day, Neil took us on several short hikes and at least one significant hike of 2-3 hours based upon our ability level. Early in our trip, Neil had assessed our hiking abilities as we made some short hikes. He would give us a good description of each hike’s difficulty (elevation change), length (yards to miles) and surface type (from packed dirt to crushed rock to rocky to boulder hopping). For lunch, Neil would find a pretty setting with a picnic table, bring down the “bag” chairs, open a cooler filled with water and soft drinks, present us with a delightful lunch that varied from small roll-ups to hamburgers to shish kabobs to grilled foil lunch packets. He even carried a portable propane grill. Throughout our week, he explained the geographic history and the topological differences from one national park to the next, which were remarkable and awe-inspiring. Additionally, Neil was VERY flexible and willing to adjust to our interests, the flow of traffic in the parks and the weather conditions. An unexpected bonus was his expertise as a photographer as he took countless pictures of our group and the sights, all to be shared at the end of the trip. He even shared tips on how to utilize the camera features of our iPhones. At dinner time, we’d pick a restaurant to enjoy at our own expense. Heading to bed relatively early was fairly typical since the next day often began early to beat the crowds. Neil has quite a knowledge of the traffic patterns of people at each location we visited. He grew up in Utah and has extensively camped throughout the state. See the majesty of the American southwestern national parks with Neil Peterson and Desert Solitude. We had a memorable and fantastic trip.

What a phenomenal experience we had with Neil of Desert Solitude. Neil customized a wonderful excursion for our party of ten people. With four adults and six boys (ages 8-16), Neil had to work hard to ensure everyone had a great time, and we sure did. We visited Arches and Canyonland National Parks all in one day. Our group was made up of skilled hikers/runners to busted up knee and bad achilles kind of hikers (me). Neil claimed from the onset that he prided himself on being flexible, and this was no lie. I took more moderate hikes while the rest of the group did the more challenging ones. Everyone was satisfied. Neil has an easy, affable, and informative charm about him that makes each person feel at ease. My 14-year-old son referred to Neil as a "G.O.A.T." This is high praise from a teenage boy. We will most assuredly use Neil again when we return to Utah. Wish we could give him 6-stars!

Our day trip to Arches was amazing! Our tour guide was Neil he is very friendly, easy to talk to and knowledgeable about the area. Which is good because the drive from SLC to Arches is 3-4 hours. On that long drive you will really appreciate the large, clean and comfortable SUV that they use. We had a group of four, 2 adventures and active teenagers, my aunt who is a young 50 but not into hiking and myself 30 not in shape at all and I sprained my ankle a few days before the trip. Neil was able to customize the tour so that it worked for all of us. My aunt and I walked right up to the Arches and the teenagers ran up and climbed on the Arches. The whole time we were on the tour Neil was taking photos of the trip and the pictures came out great. Last but most certainly not least I have to add that lunch was amazing, for an included lunch we were expecting something like a sandwiches but it was grilled steak and vegetable kabobs and they were absolutely delicious.
