This was a nice campground with good facilities and a nice beach/lake area. The staff were very friendly. Two big issues we had: 1. It's nice for police/rangers to be visible to discourage loud/obnoxious behavior that ruins everyone's experience. However, there's a difference between this and an over-zealous patrol, and Holliday Lake goes a little over-board on the patrol. 2.... More

Great Park. Great location. Red Bud loop sites quite close to one another. Fantastic tent and pop up camping sites. Felt like this loop was converted from great tent sites to OK trailer/RV sites. The restroom was smaller but well maintained and clean. Has two showers stalls. The Laurel Ridge loop seemed pretty new and are clearly made for RV/trailers.... More

This is one of the best campgrounds we have been too. The sites are smaller and only allow one tent on them at a time but they do have electric and water at each site. Our site was shaded and set back from the road. The staff was very helpful and polite. The lake was gorgeous and had plenty for... More

This is the best campground I've ever visited. The campsites are large and level (with crushed stone) and landscaped with huge timbers. Fire pits were very clean with no burnt wood laying around. Picnic tables are movable with newer wood table tops and seats. Each site has electric and its own water. Bathroom and shower areas were very clean as... More

This is one of my favorite places to go camping. Tons of stuff for the kids to do in the summer-- swimming, fishing, boating, etc. Not much place to mountain bike, but there are a few trails. The upper level campground is fantastic with huge level sites and a pristine bath house. Very friendly camp host. We love going camping... More

Holliday Lake is deep in the Appomatox-Buckingham State Forest, just east of Appomatox and about midway between Richmond and Rte 81. The highlight here is, of course, the lake, with its sand beach, boat rentals and boat launch, fishing, and miles of trails of varying length and difficulty. There are few better places to spend a summer day. There are... More

The campground was well maintained, the bathrooms and showers were clean, and the staff was outstanding. After a storm staff drove around checking on every campsite and making sure everyone was OK. They were friendly and informative, and in fact were the best campground staff I've met. In concert with the history of nearby Appomattox, one night a Civil War... More

We actually camped at James River State Park but ended up coming over to Holliday Lake to take our 4 year old swimming; we found out after we got to JRSP that she was too young to go down the river. She LOVED coming over to HLSP for 2 days and her Dad and I really enjoyed it too. The... More

The rv area is very nice with a new bath house but there are only 7 sites. The bath house was extremely clean and well maintained. We rode through the other camping area and noted how close together the sites were. Too close in my opinion. If you are in an rv, make sure you approach the park on Route... More
