This is the "crown jewel" of the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, where Gen. Lee surrendered to Gen. Grant. The house is beautifully restored and the experience was wonderful.

This is in the national park and really well setup. Great location to get a feel for just how the meeting must have gone as Grant and Lee negotiated the surrender.

An interesting home to visit based on the journey this family took throughout the Civil War. From Manassas, Va to Appomattox, Va.

While touring the Appomattox National Park be sure to tour the McLean house where our nation was reunited after the Civil War.

If you're in Appomattox, this is the only place to visit. You can enter the house where Lee surrendered and the Civil War effectively came to a close. Some of the original furniture is still there.

As a very young boy, I became fascinated with the American Civil War. My grandfather's grandfather fought for the Union and told my grandpa stories which my grandpa passed to me. I have been fortunate to visit many CW battlefields and sites. I finally made...More

The place of the actual surrender General Lee to General Grant of the Northern Virginia army. Actual period pieces and reconstructed buildings. A great site to visit!
