We sailed with Captain Bronte on June 20th, 2020 from 9 am until 11:15pm. There were four adults and one 3 year old in our party. Bronte met us promptly at 9 am, gave us a brief description of the boat (the Rapture) and we were on our way. Dreamcatchers, and Bronte in particular, made us feel exceptionally comfortable with their COVID-19 safeguards. The cabin on the boat was closed, with the exception of guests being allowed to use the bathroom. We all wore masks until we were out on the open water when Bronte informed us he was fine with us eating and drinking during the voyage.

Bronte was an excellent captain. He shared a lot of information about the Rapture, sailing (generally and several funny stories of his own), Lake Superior, the Apostle Islands, and Bayfield, without it feeling overwhelming at all. He offered to give us an overview of the sailing operations but we were fine just relaxing during the trip (two of us did navigate for awhile). It's also worth mentioning Bronte was fantastic with the three year old! She got into a few things and he was totally fine with her playing with most of the stuff she could get her hands on (e.g., rope, sponge), while quickly moving things she shouldn't play with (e.g., lubricant spray). I speak for the entire group when I say we would highly recommend sailing with Dreamcatchers. If we are ever back in the area, I'd sign up for a longer cruise so we could see more of the Apostle Islands. Due to the wind and short sailing time, we only saw Basswood Island on the 2.25 hour sail...but I expect Bronte would remind me here that sailing is about the journey not the destination. Dreamcatchers made that journey quite perfect.

We did the overnight and all day sail in June, 2020, and had a wonderful day. We have 8 and 11 year old boys and they loved the trip. Our captain was Bronte, and he helped make it a very memorable experience. The boys (and mom and dad) got to raise the jib, drop the anchor, skipper the boat and take part in the entire process. Bronte did a great job of educating us about how and why things worked on the boat. He also taught us how to tie sailing knots and he had magic tricks and riddles to help pass the time. He was an excellent captain and really made the experience.

We were able to be under sail for much of the trip, but you're at the whims of the lake, and there were periods of no wind. During that time, we used the motor, which helped get us around. I saw some critiques of that in other reviews, and I wanted to point it out. So don't expect to be 100% sailing, at least not if you want stay on schedule. Of course, the wind was crazy strong when we wanted to dinghy over to a sea stack to jump in, and we had to sail on past. Be willing to be flexible and have fun. We were able to take the dinghy to the sea caves on Oak Island, we saw the shipwreck off the main land, took a hike to a beach on Stockton Island, saw the Michigan Island lighthouse (from a slight distance) and saw at least a dozen bald eagles including a nest on Hermit Island. Bronte helped us create an itinerary the night before we sailed, and for the most part we were able to stick with it. We really got to see a lot and for our first time sailing, it was a truly memorable day.

Sleeping overnight on the boat was fun, and our 8 year old said it was, "the best hotel ever!" Mom and Dad might slightly disagree, but it was an adventure nonetheless. The thin bed and dock noises made it feel more like camping on a boat, but it was a unique experience and one we'll all remember for a long time.

All in all a fabulous trip, and worth every penny. Make sure you request Bronte as your captain. :)

My husband and I are sailors but we no longer have our boat. We wanted our 13yr old and 9 1/2 yr old Grandchildren to have a sailing adventure and Dreamcatcher was by far the BEST choice! It was easy to make the reservations and everyone was very kind and helpful!! I must say Bronte is the best choice for Captain!! He was great with the kids and made the day around them. Let them handle the lines, winches, sails and taught them how to make special knots with the lines (ropes). He showed them how to find the wind and to watch the reaction with the sails. They were able to steer and explore the boat. It was a beautiful, hot, sunny day but not much wind. Everyone was okay with that because our Captain taught the children to swing out and jump in the water off the boom. Captain Bronte joined in as well! Could NOT have asked for a better time!!! We will definitely be using Dreamcatcher Sailing again!!! Thank you!!

Captain Weston was very engaging and knowledgeable about the Lake and surrounding area.

The weather turned out perfect. Weston made sure our Anniversary sail was memorable.

The sailboat was modern and clean.

Definitely recommend Dreamcatcher and Weston as your Captain.

We enjoyed a nice relaxing two hour Sunday sail with Owen as our Captain. He was very knowledgeable about Bayfield and all the islands. A real professional and friendly. It was a perfect day for sailing with a nice breeze. We had asked to see a lighthouse, but really didn't sail close enough to see one without binoculars. I think we would have needed to pay for the longer tour to do that. We didn't judge the distance between the mainland and islands on a sailboat very well.
The reason for only 4 dots is that it ended up being twice as expensive as the other company that was going to take us out. It was explained to us that we were booking for a private tour and could take up to 6 people out. I asked if they could match us up with other folks to split the cost as it was just the two of us, but I guess with Covid people don't feel comfortable doing that right now. It would be nice if Dreamcatcher Sailing could do both, especially since another couple went out on their other boat at the same time as we did.

Sailing with Dreamcatcher Sailing was the highlight of our Apostle Island/Bayfield trip! My husband and I did the 2.25 hour sailing cruise. Even though we had to re-schedule from our original date and time due to the rain, they were very accommodating in re-scheduling us for the next morning. Westin was a great captain and even taught us a few things about sailing on our way to and from the islands. This trip has made both my husband and I want to sail more often! We highly recommend Dreamcatcher Sailing to anyone staying in the Bayfield area who wants to have a more personalized sailing experience.

We would give 10 stars ⭐️ if possible! Captain Owen took our family on the discovery trip. Our kids had the time of their lives. We brought our 1 year old, and there was plenty of space below deck to take care of any baby needs. We hiked Basswood island, saw a shipwreck, and took a dip in the lake. The kids loved helping with ship duties. Captain Owen was such a pleasure to have as our guide. We will always remember this trip!

We had a great time on Dreamcatcher, Brontae(sp) was an excellent captain. He shared his love of sailing with us while helping us learn about the art of sailing. We had great conversation while on board. We highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in sailing as a way to see the Apostle Islands.

My wife and I recently went on a 2 1/4 hour sail with Dreamcatcher Sailing and had a fabulous time! Captain Weston was very friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to do as much or as little as we wanted to in terms of manning the lines or steering the boat...great fun! His overall management of the excursion, including attention to the safety aspects of the trip was very professional. Highly recommended!!!!

Our family had an amazing sunset sail with Captain Weston! We toured around the nearby islands, watching the sunset on the most perfect night. Although sailing was on mom & dad’s bucket list… I’m pretty sure our two young boys were inspired by this experience as they explored and maneuvered around the boat like pros! We’ll definitely cherish this experience. Thank you :)
