My kids and I always enjoy a visit to the Whitehead Memorial Museum. There are many interactive exhibits that the kids love, and it's full of historical information. It isn't modern or in perfect condition, but it's worth a visit for sure.

This is a great little museum. Lots of exhibits that are informative about the area's history. Upon entering the main building, you're given the history of the main building and a summary of the outside exhibits. The tour is self guided but each exhibit gives adequate information and details.

While on an RV trip around Texas, a friend, Trish Urban took us on a tour of Del Rio. One place was the Whitehead Memorial Museum which has a variety of items. It's about a city block with outdoor displays and many buildings to view items that are inside. We were amazed that you can get right up next to... More

I visited the museum on a Thursday afternoon and got to explore the place by myself due to being the only visitor at the time. Wow, I enjoyed this museum complex! There was so much to see and set up perfectly to make it a fun adventure. The employees were such kind people too. The birds outside had to be... More

Very interesting. I always want to take the kids to different places when we travel. I was particularly interested in the Whitehead Memorial Museum because my dad really likes old cowboy and the old west memorabilia. Judge Roy Bean is buried here and I knew he would enjoy the visit. It was pretty warm and there were just enough spots... More

My wife and I recently visited the Whitehead Museum and had a great time walking the grounds and taking a look at the past. This museum has a great display of old time farming equipment, wagons, and houses. We enjoyed the animals that were on the grounds as well. The staff was great at guiding us through the displays and... More

Whenever I have a chance to stop at locations like this I always do. Was not able to get in but still the visit from outside was pretty neat. The history from location like this are always interesting to visit!

Thank you, Tripadvisor, for tipping us to the Whitehead Memorial Museum -- we spent our one day of Del Rio sightseeing here and learned a lot about the city and about the history of the region. The Museum is tucked away in a neighborhood which is primarily residential, full of an interesting variety of old houses. You enter the museum... More
