Worth a stopover after touring Alibates Flint Quarry for a picnic

This looks like the local recreation area - campsites, picnic tables. Great lake below for boating & swimming. We only passed though briefly, but worth a look when we have more... read more

I give this a two only because we had to abort and turn around to go back the way we started. This was a dirt road that was not meant for small family cars. I don't know how we made it as far as we did; it was interesting to say the least.

We had a lovely night camping on the cliff over-looking Lake Meredith. Each camp site comes with a shelter, a grill and a fire ring. New shower blocks and water sources have been recently installed and they are immaculate! No reservations are taken, and it is first come, first served. Get there early as there is no charge for this... More

Part of our summer vacation must include swimming. With Alibates monument down the road, we had to swing by and get wet. Water was cool, swim area was clean and safe, staff in area were knowledgeable and respectful. Great get away in North Texas.

My friend is originally from Fritch so she wanted to show me around her home town, and im so glad she did as ive never seen such a beautiful lake as Meredith. We didn't get to stay long as our agenda called for other things but the beauty of the lake is breath taking. I want to so badly go... More

My husband and I enjoyed an afternoon touring around Lake Meredith National Recreation Area. The lady at the ranger station in Flint was very helpful and we got a great Lake Meredith map. We started with a picnic lunch in a park below Sanford dam. The park was not crowded, had a pretty lake, many covered picnic tables, a couple... More

This looks like the local recreation area - campsites, picnic tables. Great lake below for boating & swimming. We only passed though briefly, but worth a look when we have more time to pass. Next time we want to have a picnic or BBQ here

As a kid that moved to Fritch at the age of ten, I have had a terrible burden of watching the lake recede bit by bit every year. In fact, my mom works headquarters and my step-father was a firefighter. So when I was able to wander out there without my family hovering around me, I did. I I have... More

Had trouble finding a place to camp but once we got settled we were very impressed. The view was great! The site was free so I was pleasently surprised to find picnic tables and shelters and bathrooms with running water. Very windy up there but overall a great stop on our trip.

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and for Lake Meredith that is surely the case. Most people will complain that the lake is so low that it's useless for anything but there is still plenty to do in the recreation area as long as you're not looking for flash and watersport. I've never swam in... More
