Good picture opportunity
Jul 2019 • Solo
Lots of stairs, but worth to visit on a sunny day just to take some rays in, walk and enjoy. You will most likely encounter some interesting characters... and above all offers fantastic views of golden gate on good visibility day.
Loved it

Great views of the Golden Gate Bridge
Aug 2019
It took about 25 minutes to get down to the Beach from the main parking area but the views of the Golden Gate Bridge were amazing and at sunset we saw huge numbers of Pelicans flying home to roost.

Great beach next to the Golden Gate Bridge
Jul 2019
We spent the day at Marshall's Beach, this is a great secluded beach next to the Golden Gate Bridge. The view of the bridge is awesome. Access to the beach is via steps and a path to the beach but well worth it when you get there.

Interesting nude beach
Jul 2019
the beach at Marshall's Beach is a little hard to get to - about a mile of descent via sloping paths and staircases. It's worth it, as the views are stunning. This is a nude-option beach, with a somewhat separated gay side past the big rocks at the far (eastern) end of the main part of the beach. It isn't warm and sunny very often at this beach, but when it is, the place is nothing short of spectacular.

Great views of the GFB
Jul 2019 • Family
We went to Marshalls Beach right before sunset. We stayed up on the trails instead of actually going down to the beach. It was really chilly and windy. We got some great photos!

Not crowded but not good for swimming
Jun 2019 • Couples
Beach is very rocky and there’s a pretty hefty downward (and back upward) climb to get to it. But the views of the Golden Gate Bridge are gorgeous. There wasn’t too many people but if you’re looking for a more family friendly beach, I’d go to bakers beach instead.

Great views, mostly naturists...
Jun 2019 • Couples
A few really hot days in SFO saw us heading to Baker Beach for a clothing optional swim. Walking in from under the GGB, we came across Marshall’s on the way to Baker.
Wow, so pretty and picturesque!
It’s a bit of a hike down, but well worth it.
The beach was mostly naturist, with a number of females and males enjoying the sunshine and water, au natural. Northern end of the beach appears to appeal to the gay crowd. It didn’t bother us at all... just be aware of ‘the scene’ before you arrive.
We really liked Marshall’s...

A little bit of a hike but the views are worth it! First time visiting SF, walked all over the city and ended up here.

Stunning
Nov 2018 • Couples
This is the spot for the absolutely most beautiful views of the GGB. You can hike around (very steep) hills to get right to the edge of the cliff or take the stairs all the way down to the beach. I can’t believe there weren’t more people around, this was my favorite spot in SF

The iconic view of the Golden Gate Bridge
Oct 2018 • Couples
If you want the iconic photograph of the Golden Gate Bridge then you need to hike down to Marshall's Beach. Take the Batteries to Bluffs trail starting from Langdon Court on the North end. A little less than one quarter mile from Langdon Court you will come to an intersecting trail that sends you off to the right and down to Marshall's Beach. Be aware that the entire hike is not very long at all, but you have to descend and then climb stairs to get back. Not difficult, just a lot of elevation gain. Once on the narrow beach you have the Golden Gate Bridge right in front of you and the Pacific Ocean waves crashing to the left and perhaps all around you, depending on the tide. It is a beautiful place. Due to its seclusion, the beach is also a favorite for the visiting naturist (meaning nude). So this may not be the place for your children or even yourself. That is your decision. The conditions on the beach can vary from warm and calm to windy, foggy and very cold. And that change can occur very quickly, so be prepared to carry whatever you need to be comfortable. When the tide is out there is a nice sand beach. When the tide is in you will probably get wet. It's all in the timing. There are no restrooms at or on the way to Marshall's Beach. Your best bet may be the porta potties at Baker Beach. Or travel prepared (blue bag and toilet paper - pack it out!!!). If you are taking pictures, bring a tripod, camera with at least a 50mm lens or a zoom, and a selection of neutral density filters (for time lapse). You will have a blast and get some amazing shots. Have fun. Safe travels. Cheers.
