Beautiful Park & Playground with Amazing Views
Aug 2021
A beautiful park with great views and restaurants a few blocks away. We've been here a number of times as it's where 20+ Cavalier King Charles Spaniel owners get all of our dogs together for a couple hours for play dates.

We love seeing the children in the playground and people picnicking on the lawn.

Beautiful San Francisco Park
May 2021 • Solo
This is one of San Francisco's beautiful outdoor green spaces. Alta Park is a combination huge lawn area for laying out a blanket and picnicking, beautiful views of the city, and a playground for the kids.

on a breezy day it can be a few degrees colder here than a few blocks away on Fillmore Street. while this park was most likely designed for the locals, I recommend it as a stop on a cross San Francisco hike for tourists and locals alike.

And if you've got a dog bring him.

Panoramic views of the city
Apr 2019 • Couples
Alta Plaza was my neighborhood park when growing up in San Francisco. I played many games of tennis, walked my dog and met with neighbors. This park is still a good place to take kids, have a picnic, or just enjoy the park and city views.

A Little Known Park that is a Must-See
Feb 2019 • Solo
If you go to Alta Plaza Park, you will see mostly locals playing tennis or a bit of basketball, taking their kids to the children's playground, letting their dogs have fun, or just reading and enjoying the view. Very few tourists have discovered our park. It is on a high point of Pacific Heights and commands views of north, east and south San Francisco. That's 270 degrees of our city. The south view is simply the best. You can walk to Fillmore and Union for some of the top restaurants in the country and for shopping. Further down is Chestnut for the same thing. If you are the "Architectural Digest" type, the park fronting north is lined with mansions. As a local, I would like to keep this park more "private." But as a San Franciscan, I am proud of this little known showcase and I would like the rest of the world to discover and enjoy it.

Love Alta Plaza
Mar 2018 • Friends
Great park. it's kid friendly and dog friendly. Currently under construction which is a drag...but generally love this place. Tennis and basketball courts and a beautiful playground for kids. Great views. I only wish some of the dog owners...paid a little closer attention to their dogs (picked up after them etc) than to their social climbing.

Pretty Park, Pretty Views
Aug 2017
Lovely part of town graced by this very pretty park, well-used by the locals. Some very nice apartment buildings around, plus some mansions. Some great views of the city.

Perfect park for families
Sep 2017 • Family
This adorable park is a most stop, quiet and peaceful. The perfect spot for a picnic with your special someone or family. Or if you just want a great grassy hillside to read. Our three year loved the playground.

A High Point for Views of SFO city & Bay, GoldenGate...On Top of the World
Aug 2017 • Solo
Prepare to hike to the edge of the Park, then climb steps to reach the top. The workout is well worth the views you will experience (as well as the Victorian homes you'll pass on your way to the park). Even with the typical fog that can roll-in on the bay, you'll enjoy the vibe from this more clear and sunny vantage.
