I've been to several Madame Tussauds all over the world and this one seemed fairly small and not really worth the price. It has what you would expect, celebrity wax statues and fun photo ops, which is what I love about MTs. This location just seemed really small and at almost $100 for a combo ticket with Ripley's, it's pretty pricey. Definitely could be a good option if it's a rainy day.
Ripley's however is definitely a cool stop. Much more interactive and if you stopped to read everything, you could be in there for hours.

This Madame Tussauds does the brand proud. Plenty of local content which you don;t see in other exhibits. The detail is amazing as always. We all had great fun. Our entance was part of a pass, but the prices on the door would be worth paying.

Tickets for the Alcatraz boat were all sold out so opted for the 3 for 1 pass. Had not heard of the wax museum so it was a good surprise! It is well done & covers entertainers to politicians! Had some fun with the figurines! Alcatraz is a "must-see" when in San Fransisco. It is very interesting and the audio tour is fantastic! There is so much history but it is presented in a fascinating way!! Easy to spend a few hours on the island. Would recommend to go earlier in the day rather than mid afternoon so you leave yourself enough time to see it all! Went to the Dungeon as we had the tickets. It is perhaps for the younger travellers. It was fun but not likely do it again as it's a bit cheesy. The actors were good at keeping in character & presenting more history of the area.

Awful place to visit!! Both of them and that is because of their staff! Gave me an email address (which is on their website) for complaints and told me it would be dealt with once I sent an email and all emails have been ignored for 2 months! All these people want is your money and once they have that, to hell with you!!

My wife took our kids and myself on my birthday. It was an interesting experience. We had to escape from Alcatraz/jail. It required team work. The rules are clearly explained before you begin.

We didn't take pictures as much where some people take with every stars they pass on. It's quite cool that the celebrities are categorized where they belong: sports, musicians, actors, etc.
SF Dungeon has good theatrics, and amazing anticipation, but not a lot of scare tactics. Real fun still.

We visited the one in Vegas, and I liked this one better. It was more interactive, there were more props for photos etc and it was a very different experience in my opinion.

Have visited several Madame Tussauds around the world, and there were nothing special about this one. There were a bit more local that is normal, with both tech personals as well as the hippie era. The downside is that the feeling of the place is that it is sort of abandon. There should be a en souvenir shop, it is closed, and looks abandon. Some of the clothes on the wax figures was torn and it is pretty worn the whole place. We got the entrance fee as part of a deluxe Big Bus ticket, otherwise we wouldn't have spent money on it.

They had a lot of stars there and they made it really fun by putting props next to the stars where you could put a hat on and a jacket and act like you’re dancing with Michael Jackson. I highly recommend doing this!! It wasn’t extremely busy so we were able to take our time and have fun with it.

Definitely worth a look, something to capture the interest of all ages! Lots of interactive fun to be had, and great opportunities to have a selfie with the ‘stars’

Is it true if you purchase Madame Tussaud’s tickets you get free tickets to the dungeon? I’m thinking some people just got lucky...
Written December 26, 2018
When we were there we got discounted tickets to the dungeon but that was also four years ago.

I would like to ask about the price to get in here and which time is the best time to visit to avoid crowd ?
Thankyou :)

The price was around $30/ adult. we visited mid morning mid week and was not very crowded. Had a great time using the props and taking all our own photos.

I think it was $29 for entrance which included The Dungeon tour (history of SFO). My guess to go is mid-afternoon or late evenings.

Admission was around $50 USD for two adults. We arrived just before lunch and there were no crowds. The whole time we were in there we only saw about 4 other people. Not crowded at all!

We got the tickets as part of a package with the Big Red Bus. But I don't think they were very expensive. We went mid day and it was not too bad.

How do I get to Madame Tussauds in SanFrancisco coming from Greyhound Station?
Written August 14, 2015
If your staying in the heart of San Fran, Catch the F street car to the Fishermans wharf area. Walk across the road, and it is able to be seen. Cost per person is around $2.50 USD each way
