This is your backstage pass to the coolest area in the universe! Stroll through the cosmic history of it all, from rock’n roll to art, fashion and architecture, this fantastic walking adventure gives you real insight into the cosmic draw of the Haight-Ashbury! The tour is approximately 60% hippy history and 40% general neighborhood history and architecture, but it is always 100% ‘far-out’ fun! Saunter along the same streets that Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell and countless others etched their marks into the collective alternative culture and creativity of the 20th century! Approximately 12 blocks, final destination 2 blocks from the point of origin. A poetic and symbolic act of retracing the footsteps of so many, returning with greater understanding and heightened consciousness.

stan took us on a wonderful tour of haight ashbury, not just the 60's. I was informative and he picked some great spots to show us. Even gave me directions to the airplane house that was not on the tour.

Great tour guide, Sunshine! Everything I had hoped it would be! Provided the history as well as the current state of life in the Haight, very knowledgeable, with a great sense of humor! Thoroughly engaged the group of Baby Boomers as well as my 20 year old son, he loved it!

Our walking tour with Sunshine "Sunny" Powers lasted around 2 hours. She guided us through the hip neighborhood, talked about the architecture, culture and the spirit of Haight Ashbury. A lot of the interesting stuff that she pointed out could be easily missed had we done this trip on our own. If you're worried about getting tired, the walk was... More

Stan was a very knowledgeable guide. My mother and I enjoyed hearing about the history of the area and walking through the lovely leafy streets, admiring the architecture and design of the terrace houses. If you're a mature aged person as my mother is (70 yrs old to be precise), be aware that there are long periods of standing around... More

Exceded any expectations we may have had in terms of information, insights and humour. Stan is clearly part of the story he himself narrates so well. He bought nostalgic tears to eyes of the ex-hippies amongst us!

Stan is a great guide: he is full of anectodotes about the neighbourhood and is very knowledgeable about its history, architecture and the people who lived in the area during the Summer of Love. Highly recommended!

My wife and I were lucky enough to have Sunshine Powers as our guide into the Haight then and now. Sunny is passionate about her neighborhood. She also a huge Deadhead. Her perspective into the the music scene of the 60's and 70's as well as the social scene at that time was fantastic. The tour covered sevetal blocks over... More
