This is your backstage pass to the coolest area in the universe! Stroll through the cosmic history of it all, from rock’n roll to art, fashion and architecture, this fantastic walking adventure gives you real insight into the cosmic draw of the Haight-Ashbury! The tour is approximately 60% hippy history and 40% general neighborhood history and architecture, but it is always 100% ‘far-out’ fun! Saunter along the same streets that Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell and countless others etched their marks into the collective alternative culture and creativity of the 20th century! Approximately 12 blocks, final destination 2 blocks from the point of origin. A poetic and symbolic act of retracing the footsteps of so many, returning with greater understanding and heightened consciousness.

"Stan Floride" the Tour Guide was a treat. He lived the Haight Ashbury experience and lived to tell. He gave us a great history lesson and explained the many cultural forces at work that resulted in the Haight Ashbury experience. He had lots of friends in the neighborhood who greeted him on our walk. He was quite amusing. Highly recommend.

This was a very good tour with Sunny. It was very nostalgic for us, we thoroughly enjoyed walking the Haight. I would recommend and it is well worth the price.

Loved this tour. Stan was knowledgeable and entertaining in this slow moving walking tour throughout the Haight neighbourhood. Good for any age, not strenuous at all.

Our guide Stan has made it his mission to share his knowledge of living in the area for many years. Though we we grew up far from here, we were generally aware of the area through the music and musicians who were living here at the time. It was fun seeing homes where The Greatful Dead and Janis Joplin lived.... More

When my husband and I travel, we like to look for walking tours of whatever area we're in to give us some background. This tour was fantastic at giving us an 'insider's glimpse' into the history of San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighbourhood. The tour leader is 'Stan', who has lived in the area since 1972 (so he knows where most of... More

This tour was amazing! Stan knew the neighborhood! You could tell he's been living there for 30+ years. He's a fixture on Haight-Ashbury and is known by many! He was very informative and gave us the run down on the history of the area and took us around to see many interesting places and homes that make this area so... More

Stan did a wonderful tour on an era long gone by. Since he is a local historian, I think he knows more about the history and the area than most other tour companies. He also has a great gift of story telling and sense of humor. That is the reason I went with Haight Ashbury Flower Power Walking Tour over... More

Stan, our tour guide was fantastic !! We saw and learned so much about the Golden Gate Park, Flower Power Time and the 'Flower Power Time' what we not expected about the Grateful Dead and many persons which influenced my wife's life, she was a Punk in Amsterdam, and my life, I never knew that the Grateful Death did for... Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighborhood Profile
Haight-Ashbury
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighborhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
