Fantastic walking tour with Jay! Very entertaining with lots of great historical information and context. Would highly recommend for a great day in San Francisco
Thanks for emphasizing the “entertainment” aspect of the tour. I try to make the tour a learning experience and lots of fun! History should not be boring.
My wife and I live in a Victorian home in Texas, so we decided to take the Victorian Home Walk on Saturday morning in San Francisco. Jay was extremely informative, explaining the three periods of Victorian architecture and examining the details of the homes. Starting...More
Thank you for a wonderful review! I am glad you enjoyed lunch after the tour. It’s a good reminder to folks that after the tour we end on Union Street which is full of great lunch spots!

Good point! This tour is low impact and involves no hills.
I loved this walking tour, I honestly learnt so much about San Francisco's architecture as well as its history. The tour felt like an easy stroll but was jam packed with information and plenty to see. Definitely more than worthwhile and I thoroughly recommend it...More

It’s always a hard sell to get the “husbands” on this tour, but when they come they love it. Don't be fooled that this is a female only tour!!
My wife and I wanted a nice guided walk through some of the famous old home neighborhoods. Jay is a very knowledgeable guide and answers some very tough questions easily. The walking is a fair amount with hills so wear comfy shoes. The houses you...More
We walk about an hour and a quarter stopping every block to talk. There are no steep hills on the route. I get many older people on the tour.
We’ve been to San Francisco a number of times but we saw new aspects of the city on this tour. Jay Gifford is a congenial and supremely informed guide to the architectural history of San Francisco, before and after the Great Earthquake of 1906. A...More
No matter how many times you have been to SF, you will not have seen the things I show you!!
I am absolutely recommending this tour! The guide is a very friendly people’s person of great knowledge – not only of SF’s housing and architectural history. He has travelled the world and can therefore put SF in context of other big cities. He is very...More
