As soon as you enter, the sound of cars is replaced by birds and the sight of streets is replaced by tall Eucalyptus. I feel hesitant to post a review on this place because of how much I love it and I want to keep it to myself and the few others that already know about it. This forest is peaceful and the perfect place to remind yourself that green space can exist in urban areas. Every season is beautiful in here (unless terribly muddy) since there is always something new in bloom. You can couple hiking in here with hiking up to Twin Peaks to make a full day of it!

trail entrances are tucked away in between houses, which makes this trail a great local spot. Great for hikers, bikers, and trail runners. Paths are a bit narrow for traffic going in opposite ways but totally doable. Lots of great foliage, and even some art along the paths. Iit's very peaceful, & I love that in the middle of the San Francisco there is this hidden gem.

While on the trail, one forgets that the park is located in the middle of the city. The trails were first built in the 1800's and rediscovered only a few decades ago. Some of the supporting walls built in 1886 can still be seen. The Mount Sutro Stewards offer guided hikes, although their website tends ot be hard to find. These hikes are priceless. http://sutrostewards.org/events/ucsf-mount-sutro-spring-wildflower-tour-2

The trees, dripping with condensation from the mist of the pacific spray, the solitude, the gentle rustling of the leaves and swaying of the branches. Is there a nature trail better than this in SF?

One comes upon an occasional oasis in an occasional urban area that pleases the occasional soul, An opportunity to traverse with oneself and devoid one of the clutter and clatter of the city. With the pleasure of viewing endemic flora called California Cypress unique to this lovely area. Don't miss it!.

Interested in a short urban hike where a couple of minutes in you feel like you're totally removed from the city and deep in a forrest full of eucalyptus trees? Mt. Sutro is just the place! Tucked away behind houses near the south east corner of Golden Gate park, it's quick 30 minute hike up to the top (gets your heart pumping, not for those looking for a super easy walk) where you can find other trails, take in the views, or head back down. It's not far from Tank Hill and one of my favorite urban hikes is going up Mt Sutro and down to Tank Hill to watch the sunset. What makes it all even more magical is that there are never many people there. It's a hidden gem :)

This is one of my favorite parks to visit. There are nice trails to hike. And it is never a lot of people. It's not overrun with tourists. There is a bathroom toward the Southeast end.

This is a relaxing getaway from the hustle of a big city. If you want to get away from the noise of the city, this is the place to go. There are great trails and not many people. It's a place tourists don't flock to and seems more like a place only locals know about.
