I discovered Beard Papa's two years ago (this month ... that's how memorable it is) and I was more excited about sinking my teeth into the world's most perfect cream puff than even the San Francisco crab! Perfection. Short and simple. They have it all figured out and everyone else can stop trying. I just have to figure out how... More

Who knew a cream puff could be so darn tasty? I'm not a huge fan of cream puffs, but read an article about this place and happened upon it, so decided to partake. I opted for the classic vanilla custard cream puff. Wow! Ridiculously tasty. Rich, creamy, cold custard enveloped in a delicate puff pastry. Great vanilla flavor. Could see... More

The place has a several cream puff varieties, however, on any given day only a selection of its full menu will be available. You can choose your puff pastry (classic or a cookie variety) and the filling (I chose caramel). It's right by the Yuerba Buena Center and a convenient stop. Delicious!

Forego dessert at whatever expensive restaurant you're dining at and head to Beard Papa's! More affordable and a great selection! There's cream puffs or Eclairs with different fillings. Scrumptious!

Visited this little sweet shop today and the cream puffs are delicious. We picked the plain puff with the vanilla cream. A fun little stop for a treat!

This unobtrusive joint is tucked into a corner near Yerba Buena. The pastry is fresh and injected with the filling before your eyes. Crunchy, creamy, delicious, inexpensive. One of the local secret pleasures before the performances at YB or cappuccino at the Boulangerie across the street. If you've never been, you should try. And then hit the gym!

Just pop in and grab one or two puffs with the chosen filling. They are fresh and delicious and classic vanilla cream is gorgeous!

We stopped here for a treat after coming into the city from Sunnyvale on a cool Monday afternoon. There was a line but the wait was short and worth every minute. Everything is made fresh on site and delicious. Eat these treats just outside on the cafe tables...they are made to be eaten immediately...don't store them. If you need to... More

We passed by here after having lunch at the nearby Mexican restaurant and couldn't resist stopping by. You could smell the cream puffs outside and inside it was even better! You can choose cream puffs or eclairs and then the filling -- vanilla, chocolate or their filling of the day, this time green tea. We had a vanilla eclair --... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
