Cliff House housed the For-Site Foundation's sculpture exhibit on our recent visit. The Cliff House setting offered a remarkable presentation of the works. Great stuff, and a thoroughly unique memory from our recent San Francisco visit.

Nice views over the ocean from the balcony - can get a bit windy! To the right of Cliff House you have the remains of the Sutro baths - a 19th century swimming pool complex on the edge of the sea. Fascinating to wander around and imagine what it was like all those years ago!

As a native San Franciscan, Cliff House is a highly recommended experience. It's nearby the old Sutro Baths, which are full of interesting history (especially for kids), and has beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. Highly recommended for an early-morning hike and a delicious reward of hot breakfast (pancakes are delicious)! A must-see in San Francisco.

Two stars because the view is spectacular. I just had breakfast, three sides, 2 eggs, 6.50, fruit,4.50, and potatoes,4,50, for a total of 15.50. Outrageous. Compounded by the fact that for 1.45 more I could have had the same thing PLUS sausage or bacon. Yes, the popovers are usually good(today they were cold). But certainly the experience and the food does not justify the inflated prices. Walk around and enjoy the view but eat elsewhere.

Ok, the place itself is good. Nice views and decent food. Do not leave anything valuable in your car. Following having our car broke into while grabbing a bite, both the police and car rental agency said it is one of the top locations in sfo for vehicle break-ins. A $40 lunch turned into a $4800 loss. Clif house should provide security. Will not go back.

Having the best trip of the many we have taken. Stop at Cliff House, park on busy street below and as we walk up its the best view ever, beautiful beach and deep blue ocean. Once inside the food is wonderful, service great, view spectacular. Back outside we check out the Camera Obscura and then head to our car. Next stop is our hotel and then turn our car into the rental return and take the cable cars for a busy day at Fisherman's Wharf. But No; aint gonna happen. While we ate in the Bistro someone had broken out our back window and stolen almost everything we had brought on our trip. Gone were cameras, lens, picture developers, clothes, keys everything except our dirty clothes. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln how did you like the play? It was a hatchback, we had no trunk, it was a busy street with people and cars moving everywhere. Great meal, dangerous surroundings. If you go park as near the front door as possible or go to your hotel first and take a cab. By the way there are no cameras watching the street and the restaurant people yawn and say it happens all the time.

Great views from restaurant that seems like it is sitting in the ocean. Expensive, average food fills the bill. Were it not for it location, it would fail. Not much else in the area, but instead I'd go down the hill and then look for the "Beach Chalet" on your left.

I have never eaten here, and the place is overrun by tourists, but it still is one of the best things to do in SF (at least walk around the building to view the ocean and stop by and have a drink).

The Cliff House has had five major incarnations since its beginnings in 1858. It now overlooks the site of the former Sutro Baths and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, operated by the NPS. On the terrace of the Cliff House is a room-sized camera obscura. Definitely worth a visit!

I came here with my family and I admit that the free croissant was unforgettable. This is by far the best bread I’ve ever had. Moreover, the other dishes were also great. A bit pricey, but well worth t. Simply amazing
