Take the 2nd exit heading north over the Golden Gate Bridge and follow your way down to Horshoe bay near the Presidio Yacht Club. Plenty of places to park and somewhat out of the tourist trail where you get fantastic vies of the bridge with great vantage points for photographs, second only to Battery Spencer off Conzelman Rd. Often there are fisherman on the pier going about there business. Night long exposure pictures of bridge are great from the Yacht club with a tripod. On the way out look out for great views of Alcatraz and the city on the right side of the road

If you are biking or hiking the Golden Gate Bridge -- especially on a warm day -- take some time for the quieter "out of the way" Moore Road Pier. It's easily accessible biking, walking or even driving. Bring snacks and your camera to enjoy free Bridge and City views from this unique vantage point. This spot is on the way to the Sausalito Ferry when you rent a bike in SF.

To reach Moore Road Pier take the Alexander Ave., Sausalito exit of Hwy 101. Coming from the north, it is the last exit before crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. Coming from the south, it is the second exit (Vista Point is the first) after you cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Take Alexander Ave. NE to Bunker Road and Bunker Road to Murray Circle to Moore Road. Sounds like a lot, but it is only 5 minutes once you are off Hwy 101.

If you take Murray Road as far as possible, you can park right beside the Golden Gate Bridge for a neat perspective. We then drove around the water’s edge stopping to visit the pier, drive past the Coast Guard Station, over to the Presidio Yacht Club and finally out to Point Cavallo. Again, maybe only 5 minutes total, but this is an interesting place with lots going on and great views of the entire bay, to include: Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Alcatraz and Angel Island.

Not a lot of social stuff, but a good place for photography and walking. SUGGESTION: Park in the Point Cavallo lot and walk up over the dunes behind you for a nice view of the bay that you can’t see from elsewhere.

This trip combines well with a drive up Conzelman Road. It is on the others side of HWY 101, but you can get to it from Alexander Ave. without having to get back on the highway. Conzelman Road will give you several lookouts for magazine-cover type photos of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Walked here from downtown Sausalito, which was a nice walk along the bay. This was much less crowded than Vista Point or Battery Spencer, as both were completely packed and had no parking available when we went. Although the views aren't quite the same, since you are down low and under the bridge, it's still a beautiful view. The pier offers a great opportunity to take pictures with the bridge right in the background or with the bay and skyline.
