Neighborhood: Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighborhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country.

Large Breadth of Wines
Oct 2019
This is a fantastic spot for someone looking to sample wines from a lot of various regions with extremely knowledgeable staff. The snacks are also very good.

Great food matched with great wine

This is a great place to spend the evening. The solemner will help you find the perfect match for your dinner. Wines from CA, France, Germany and around the world to go with your appetizers, dinner or dessert. Everything was wonderful. I had steak tartare and a Burgundy. Alexandra and Michael were very knowledgeable and introduced us to some new and interesting wines.

Please don’t go - bad service
Nov 2018 • Friends
I wouldn’t recommend this wine bar to my worst enemy. They were incredibly disorganized and the service was outright bad.

They had multiple tables “reserved”. But as we sat throughout the evening none of these tables were used. The servers need new careers. They were rude, were inconsistent, moody, not knowledgeable, and slow. At no point did they apologize for issues and instead blamed it on us. I’ve worked for years in the service industry.

The kitchen was not able to keep up with food service. The food took anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes to come out of the kitchen. The food was ok, but not great.

When coming to a wine bar I expect a certain elegance, and level of service. The service here was better suited for a fast food restaurant. If the staff is new or not trained, then add better written descriptions of the wines and food.

Lovely place to relax on a Sunday afternoon

Delicious flat breads with an excellent wine list. Remember to have the chocolate crepes no matter how full you are.
Great Sunday Brunch. Relaxed and good for travelers in the city.

Great visit!

Only wanted to stop for a glass of wine and we're convinced to stay and take advantage of the happy hour bottle of wine and a French style pizza (Flammekueche) deal - was fab! We had the rose with the bacon and onion pizza which was awesome.
Service was great, we were welcomed and seated as soon as we walked in and looked after throughout our visit. Would definitely recommend!

I Wish There Were More Places Like This

Met an Italian friend here recently for drinks. Many pluses to the place: It's focused on wine, which is great for me because I hadda give up beer; it's not too expensive; it's not too noisy, so you can actually carry on a conversation. Good port in the storm that is the Mission.

Eclectic choice of wines
Mar 2017 • Couples
The wine card is not enormous, but you have a large choice of wines, by bottle or by the glass.
Some food is also available, and the "flammekuche" an alsacian type of pizza is to be recommended as a snack to accompany your drinking.
Decoration is simple but cosy, and the music is perfect for Lovers of the seventies !
Owned and run by a French guy, the place is a must on Valencia street !

Poor service
Aug 2016 • Friends
My wife and I stopped in at Etcetera Sunday night for a glass of wine. My son recommended it as a chill local place to hang out. The bar itself is really cool, had jazz playing, great crowd. Now comes the "however" part. It was packed (a good sign), with a table that just cleared out, perfect for our party of 4. We asked the waiter if we could sit and were told "please don't sit there yet, I'm very stressed out". OK, I was actually hoping for a stress free environment but whatever. Long story short, the waiter ultimately sat us then proceeded to ignore us and was extremely rude. I get it, restaurants are a tough gig, I've been there, but seriously, Etcetera should know, one bad attitude will sour your reputation. Too many choices, will be hard to go back.

Cozy and fair prices
Jul 2016 • Friends
A small spot in the Mission, but definitely a cozy place. They feature a lot of wines from around the world, so if you are looking for California ones, not the place to go. We tried a Uruguayan wine, which I had never tried before, coupled with two tapas on the happy hour menu. It was a good price for the bottle and plates.

Comfortable, Friendly Wine Bar
Nov 2015 • Couples
We had some time to kill before dinner nearby, no better place than a wine bar :). Etcetera was a nice find, It is small but has a nice neighborhood feel. We were there early and sat in one of the window tables.

Servers were friendly and helpful with the wines. They have an extensive list with some producers that were new to us. It was happy hour and Etcetera offer a great deal, an appetizer and a glass of wine (white or red) for 10 bucks. Red and white wine were both good and the stuffed zucchini and hummus & olives were very good.

Very relaxing atmosphere, good wine, food and service. What's not to like :)
