Our tour guide Adam was very knowledgeable about the city’s history and surrounding landmarks. We took a 15 mile bike tour through out the city. We had a great time and the ride was easy. We would highly recommend this tour to others.

Me and my husband rented two bikes when we were visiting San Francisco. The bike rental saw smooth and the personnel was polite and kind. There were maps to be had and the personnel also gave tips about routes. The bike route itself was also very nice, with views over the Golden Gate bridge and sorroundings. There were several bike paths that were directed away from traffic which is always nice. We cycled over the bridge and further to Sausalito, a small waterfront town, where we had lunch. It was a great experience overall and except for it being a little pricey, we liked it a lot!

We rented bikes at the Golden State Park entrance. After exploring the nearby Haight Street shops the six of us grabbed bikes to cover more ground, the young men working were quite polite and helpful as some of us chnaged our minds from the normal bike to electron bikes. We needed up biking all the way to the beach and enjoying the stretch along the coastal highway with San Fran closes on the weekends as a bike and walk pathway- got to see some real west coast characters! It was really a treat and we even got a bit sunburned. We made it back right as they were closing up and again were received m
K with kindness. Bikes in top shape and the day was just the best one to be remembered.

We ordered 2 city bikes and 1 electric bicke to be picked at Golden Gate Park eastern entrance @ Haight/Stanyan.
The guy helping us was not that customer friendly. In general the bikes looked bad not something we were used to when renting bikes. He was trying to make the electric bike ready. He was very busy with changing batteries from one bike to the other.
Finally the bike was ready, he said. On the pouch was a post-it with the text REAR FLAT and yes the rear tire was flat.
Okay changed to another bike. On closer examination the attachment of the rear mudguard was missing a screw resulting in a iron wire pointing dangerously out. Changed to the third bike which seemed okay.
Other two bikes seemed to be okay also.
After the question before what time we should bring the bikes back he mentioned that it would be possible to also drop them of at Fishermans Wharf which he corrected to Marina location (Fort Mason). On discussion on the extra costs he stated 3 times that it would be $ 25.
When we reached the Presidio, the gear of one of the city bikes stopped working correctly. At some point you could turn the pedals but the wheel would not turn.
I decided to go back (about 2,5 miles) to change the bike. The substitute was relatively okay.
Around 5PM we dropped the bikes of at the Marina location. The ParkWide employee did the paperwork, remove the hold on the Creditcard and without telling me charged for the drop of on other location.
So I said , okay so you charged me $25? The answer was for each bike, so in total $75.
I mentioned that his colleague at the park had said $25 on top of what I already paid so not per each bike.
Unfortunately he could not give me $50 back because he was not authorized to do so and told me to call teh office to discuss. Due to the fact that it was sunday this was not possible and teh next day we would be flying back to the Netherlands.
Back at home I tried to contact ParkWide via mail but they did not reply until after I threatened to request my money back through the creditcard company.
They did not repay us despite the fact that they were quite flawed.

Hi Mr. Burgerhof, Apologies if you didn’t think our employee was friendly or attentive enough; we will certainly address this with him. Regarding the fees, perhaps you got lost in translation, Dutch to English…. One-way drops ARE $25 each bike. Regardless, we hope you enjoyed our beautiful city!

I feel compelled to leave a bad review because the bike I was given was broken and the chain kept coming out of alignment. We were also told that the price would be ~$8 an hour per bike, but we ended up getting charged $30 for thirty minutes of bike riding for two bikes. There was no explanation given on that charge. Avoid this place and use Lyft bikes.

Dear Kwilbur90,
We are sorry to hear that you had issues with your chain during your rental. Our full service bike rental approach offers each guest with route guidance, helmets, an in-person pre-departure safety demonstration, as well as roadside assistance for issues like the one you experienced. This separates us from other bike services as it gives us a chance to always make it right. As we were not made aware of any issues about a chain falling off during your bike use, we can now happily offer a gift certificate for a full comp for later use. Please reach out to us to get this sent to you. Consider that Lyft bikes are for transportation, not recreation, and charge you for every 30 minutes- so our long term recreational rentals are always a better value. Likewise please note Parkwide is a local family owned business, and as such take our customer satisfaction very seriously.
Sincerely,
Andrew

I rented a bike from this company in Golden Gate Park. In the process of renting the bike, I told the guy where I was looking to travel, and he gave me a map and gave me advice how to get there and what to see along the way. However, he didn't tell me that the roads he was advising me to bike down were blocked off for a music festival, which made the bike ride extremely challenging, and ended up with me needing to leave the park in order to bike back to the rental location. On returning the bike, I complained to the guy running the stand, but he claimed not to know. I also complained to their central office, but they claimed that nobody else had complained and blew me off.
This company must know that their main customer base is tourists who don't know the city or its festivals. If they're going to rent bikes to tourists, and give them advice on where to bike, I think that the company has a moral duty to know what's going in on the park and give correct advice. Their failure to do so, or even acknowledge that the made a mistake, leaves me feeling scammed. I recommend avoiding this company.

Hi again Gabriel, As noted in our correspondence, we only have what we are given in terms of road closures during large events such as Outside Lands!! We are not governors of the park, but rather one of many, many wonderful things to do while visiting.
There are so many roads and trails that were left open and in fact many of our visitors that weekend enjoyed the park and used our bikes to go to and from the event.
We do the very best we can with our duty to inform riders of where to go and what to see, and even include a handlebar mounted on every bike as well as helmets and locks. If you had called we would’ve absolutely done our best to guide you where you wanted to go!

Worst bike rental ever. Bike gear didn’t work which made it very difficult to ride up hill. Half the park was closed for bike rides bc of music festival, and the personnel made it look as if “the knew nothing about it” (this was a massive music festival). Strongly suggest not to rent bikes here!

Fernando,
We don't control the park and the calendar for music festivals, as we are but one of many park amenties. Perhaps do research next time you visit a place to ensure nothing is happening that will disturb you. Best of luck out there!

Employee was rude from the start. Before handing over my credit card I asked if we could ride on the paths in the park. Yes he said. Including the dirt paths I asked. Yes. We can ride every where then? Yes.
NO YOU CAN'T!! Within minutes of him charging credit card we came across clear markings can't ride on paths or sidewalks. We had bikes back within minutes. I asked for a refund because we couldn't ride where he told me we could. He said WE DON'T GIVE REFUNDS.
I asked to speak with the manager or owner. He handed me a brochure. No one answers no way to get in touch with someone through number on brochure.
I emailed asking for a call back. NOTHING.
Terrible business practices.
I have no idea why Trip Advisor has them with 4 stars. Google ratings are 3.3 lots of bad experiences. I had I looked at their ratings prior I would have walked away.
This company wasted our time while on vacation and wasted ouroney.

Hi Monica
Nice to hear from you again in yet another review platform.
Fortunately, in front of you as you ride, we include a Free Handlebar mounted map that folks follow to coordinate to the correct way to ride the park. Also again, there isn't a way for our staff to cover all of the paths and byways of the park, as far as where bikes are allowed or not, as the over 1000 acre park is a large network of road, bike lane, bike path, & dirt path spanning 3.5 miles long and 0.5 miles wide. Our staff assured us he did go over the map with you but once you leave, we cannot guide you when we can no longer see you. Finally, all phones have Google and you can always set the map to Bike, which will help you in the future. Best of luck out there.
Cheers!

My wife and I took our two grandkids (ages 2 and 4) for a ride on a surrey cycle. They thoroughly enjoyed the trip, especially ringing the bell and when we let them "drive crazy" in a vacant parking lot. The cycle was easy to handle since the route was flat. We had a strong headwind outbound but the ride back was a breeze! Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Beautiful bike ride though the Golden City Park. My fiancée and I just dropped by spontaneously after a museum visit. The young men at the counter were delightful and full of knowledge about the park. I’m not sure why the previous reviewer said it was so hard to see where to go- they give you a map and all signage is well posted. We wanted to see the bison, but they were hiding. We did get out to Ocean beach- amazing! We live in Missouri so don’t get that ocean view…breathtaking. Tip: San Francisco can be freezing, even when its sunny! Bring layers! Such a fun day out, we got back in the nick of time right before the closed (it gets dark in the park after sunset!)

Hi! Could you please tell me which class e-bikes you rent out and whether we can rent those also for our 14yo kids?

If I have a bike booked for 9am can I pick it up later than that set time?
Written April 9, 2019
Should not be a problem, as they have a lot of bikes there.
Written April 11, 2019
Hi, do you have bikes for kids? My daughter is 7.
Thanks
Written August 15, 2017
Hello,
Yes we have bikes for all ages! If she will ride on her own we have 20" and 24" bikes with adjustable saddles, so we can definitely have the right size for her.
Another popular option children around that age is our Tag-a-longs, which attach to the back of an adult bike, turning it in to a bike for two.
Thanks for the question. Hope to see you soon!

What about bike helmets and locks for leaving your bike secured while you visit areas of the parck?
Written June 21, 2015
The bikes come with locks as standard. We didn't use helmets but they are available.
Written June 22, 2015
Hey There. Yes of course. We offer a 24 hour rental rate, and most hotels will store your bikes for you overnight. Be sure to stop by your concierge for additional savings!
