The area
Neighborhood: Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.

When you walk into Zazen you immediately feel peaceful. Everyone who works there seems to be genuinely calm and happy. I had a 1hr massage and it was one of the best I've ever had (the therapist was Darby, but I'm sure most people working there are great). You can book an appointment easily online. This was very convenient for me, as I wanted a massage at the last minute and booked at 8:30am for a 9:30am massage.

I love yoga at Zazen! Studio is beautiful and all teachers are amazing. I've never done yoga before Zazen and they taught me everything I know - my first head stand was here! Studio is equipped with everything you need, from yoga mats to all props, lockers for your belongings, mat cleaning spray and water to drink with disposable cups. It has fireplace and lots of windows and light - atmosphere is really important to me so it's pleasure holding poses there! All levels are welcome and every time class ends I see people smiling with satisfaction. Everyone truly cares about your well being in Zazen and as long as I live in SF I will be their member and do my yoga few times a week! Highly recommending!

We went to Zazen's for my bff's bday and it was a great experience. The massage was great and relaxing. The float experience was reeeeeal different. But, it was pretty cool once I got the hang of it. At first I had to prop the door open with a towel. After about 15 mins, I removed my makeshift prop LOL.

I can say with all honesty that I went into the float with the wrong idea. I thought it was going to be like floating in a pool. But, it was different and not as much work. Didn't need to tighten my abs or use my arms. Once I realized that I didn't need to do what I normally do, it was all good.

And the best thing is...I was totally relaxed for the rest of the day. Totally felt balanced. I liked that part the most! The space is very relaxing and clean.

I've been here twice so far - once for a yoga class with Lacey and once for an hour session in the sensory deprivation tank. Both experiences were amazing! Darin was a very comfortable host to put my nerves at ease during my first sensory deprivation tank experience. Lacey is an amazing yoga instructor and the studio is inviting and beautiful! It even has a fireplace to compliment the beautiful light wood floors. Highly recommend this amazing spa/studio.
