It was very easy to book online and they set the bikes out for us, keeping it mostly contactless except when we needed to sign a form. They provide helmets and little bags on the handlebars to store things, along with a bike lock that was pretty sturdy. You rent them for 24 hours and can go wherever you want, unlike some of the other companies in the area.

Two very inexperienced cyclists wanted to experience cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge on a visit to SAN Francisco. There were so many bike rental places to choose from but we decided on Bike & View due to its proximity to our hotel and reasonable price. We chose well. Staff member Tommy could tell I was a little nervous and kindly put me at ease by explaining everything. Helping me with my bike and giving good advice re directions and safety. We had a great bike ride over the bridge and was so glad we did it. Would recommend Bikeand View and a big thanks to Tommy

We did the 60 minute trip to the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. A delightful experience. The views of the bridge are absolute impressive from the boat. The view of Alcatraz is an eye opener. The ride was stable. Plenty of room on the boat. You can stay inside or go outside to get the real feel of the breeze, fresh air and the sun. The recorded narration is informative. The view of San Francisco is perfect and exposes the whole of the city to you. I highly recommend this quick trip. Easy on and off and doesn’t take up a lot of time.

We had booked in advance and therefore the price of $25 pr. bike - quite cheap compared to other places. However the price is the only good thing about Bike&View. I have never experienced anything like the hand-out situation. A very small shop, with a lot of bikes and no room at all. Costumers definetly did not feel welcome, being bossed around by manager and his wife, feeling it would be better if we were not there at all. We managed to get our bikes (remember to check brakes, tires and gear). They were, although pretty worn, in ok condition. It was impossible to get any tips or advice from the owners, when asked, they handed us their brochure with a small map. When returning the bikes, they did not care to ask if we had a pleasant ride or anything. Overall: Cheap bikes (order online), but do not expect any kind of service.

We were disappointed with the condition of the bikes. All three had some issues. One squeeked the entire time, all three were difficult or not able to change gears at all. The person behind the counter was not very friendly at first. He loosened up slightly after awhile. The only positive thing to mention was his last minute bit of info. regarding the option to drop off the bikes in Sausalito for a one way trip, after our surprise that they close at 6:45pm. This incurs and $12 per bike fee, but well worth avoiding the headache of hauling the bikes back on the ferry. Riding the backs back to our initial starting point was not an option for us. They say it's mostly downhill on certain parts, but this is not a trip for the occasional biker. Dress warm, it's very windy and cold on the bridge. There was also construction on the biker side, so that left very little room for two way traffic with some crazy speed racer bikers coming through. The signs say 15 miles per hour, but that did not hold for some. We reserved and paid online so we were unable to see the bikes till we picked them up. I would recommend paying the extra on site so you are able to see what you are paying for. I'm sure not all rental companys are the same. This is only in reference to Bike & View on Lombard St.
