Reed opened up our eyes and mind to the history and sites of San Fransico, unlike any other visit to the city. Our tour was perfectly personalized, and we were made to feel like a family member getting the insider tour of the city. I recommend a minimum of 3hrs.

My wife and I booked a 2 hour tour direct with Reed on his website smallcarbigtimetours and after a very detailed reply we were looking forward to our adventure round San Francisco.
Reed picked us up promptly at our hotel at the arranged time with the soft top down on a glorious sunny Californian morning. We set off on one of the most informative tours we have had anywhere on our holidays. We would not have seen or learnt as much in 2 weeks on our own as we did with Reed and his great narration in 2 hours!!
Even after the tour had finished Reed was on hand to contact direct on 4155295404 for any other questions or queries whilst we were in town which was much appreciated.
For a fully custom and totally private tour we highly recommend Reed and his convertible mini.

Wow, I simply can't say enough good things about this tour! It is perfect for out-of-towners anxious to get away from the same old touristy shufflle, but, it's also fantastic for locals. My partner surprised me with a 3-hour tour with Reed for my birthday, and I couldn't have asked for a better gift. I have lived in San Francisco for 5 years (and grew up just south of it), and had been meaning to learn more about my beloved city, but I didn't want to do a group tour because they tend toward being too "touristy." This was, without a doubt, the best way to do it.
Reed is simply fantastic. He is intelligent, clever, funny, accommodating, and interesting. It felt like we were being led around by a friend. This was a great example of how much better an experience is when it's being led by someone who is doing what they truly love. It was clear from the first moment that Reed not only knows and loves San Francisco, but has also devoted considerable time to learning about it's details and intricacies. You'll see any main attraction you want, but you'll also see things you didn't even know existed.
LIttle details made it easy to relax and enjoy (like the microphone he uses so you can hear him clearly and the blankets he includes so you stay warm). And, Reed does a wonderful and skilled job of filling space between sites with light and funny conversation. I was really impressed with his ability to drive safely while talking, without getting distracted by whatever was happening on the road (driving in SF can be a pain, and he handled it with grace).
By the time the tour was over, I was simultaneously sad (because I could have easily done another 2 hours) and invigorated with new love for San Francisco and armed with amazing photos and a list of places to return to. I'll definitely be doing another tour with Reed, and I recommend it without hesitation to anyone who wants to fall in love with SF.

I can be extremely critical (silently, of course) of tours and guides--but my experience with REED who is the creative mastermind of SMALLCARBIGTIMES TOURS is 100% positive. His knowledge of history, architecture, folklore, myth debunking, and great driving skills conspired to provide me and my 14 year old grandson with our best SF trip experience. Please do NOT hesitate to engage this SF superhero.

We visited San Francisco for three nights and wanted to see as much as we could. We researched hop on/off buses but I knew we’d spend a lot of time queuing and waiting so decided to book Reed and his mini tour. Reed is extremely knowledgable and accommodating. We had specific things we wanted to see such as the yoda fountain and painted steps and we managed to fit everything into a 4 hour tour. We went through all the different neighbourhoods, Chinatown and Little Italy, to the Coit tower, the GG Bridge and across it to a viewpoint the other side, and even a quick trip to Sausalito for an ice cream stop! We were able to drive down Lombard Street which was fun. We learnt so much about the history and varying architecture - we could never have done all this if we had gone around by ourselves. In our opinion, it was worth every penny. I believe you can reach Reed directly on 4155295404 or by his website at smallcarbigtimetours. Don’t hesitate if you want to make the most of your time in SF. Oh and Reed sends you loads of interesting information when you contact him - recommendations for restaurants he knows well etc. This was really useful to us.

Reed is a proper gentleman and is vastly knowledgable about San Francisco city and its history and stories!!! His fantastic mini allows you to get to places only reached by foot and is such a great experience!!!
Reed tailors his tours to your needs and desires and he ensures that you get the most from the tour!!
I have to say we are delighted to have taken the tour with Reed, also it felt intimate with only us on tour......and it is great value too!!!

What a cracka of an idea for a tour! Absolute must do for all first time visitors to San Fran. Reed was a wealth of knowledge and tailored the tour to our interests as we went along. Open top MINI is a genius idea! Gave us 360 degree views and together with commentary from Reed was the ideal way to see San Fran. Compact MINI was able to get into all the nooks and crannies of San Fran including Lombard St.....no way were we going to trek up this hill! Also able to pull up in tight corners to get photos!
The day started out overcast and chilly but he provided us with warm blankets and we even stopped to pick up coffee. Luckily as the day progressed the sun emerged and it turned into just a brilliant drive around San Fran in an open top MINI!
He also gave us heaps of ideas and information after the tour for our trip to Sonoma and also all the local foodie spots
Thanks for the tour Reed! Will definitely be recommending you to all our friends and family!

San Francisco like I've never seen before. Reed was so wonderful at such short notice. Very accommodating to do what we want on our tour. I lived in San Francisco before but never have I seen sites Reed showed me. Beautiful views from one end of the city to the other. I can't wait for my next trip. Reed will always be the one I call for sightseeing or touring area near San Francisco. He is the best.

This is a must do tour in San Francisco and Reed is just superb - really enjoyable morning and fantastic to cross the Golden Gate Bridge in a convertible. SF is a unique city in the US and beyond. Reed’s in-depth knowledge of its peculiarities and ability to speak about them all on the spot in the most appropriate vehicle to SF geography made our tour an extremely enjoyable experience. As a general introduction for my daughter, as a better understanding of its differences for me. But we understood that he might alternatively have set up a specific tour on some or all of the Beat authors. That will be for another visit. But his talent was also to avoid long known stories and to surpris us with unknown details.

The rate is $75 per hour, not per person. He prefers cash if it is less than 4 hours.
