Neighborhood: Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighborhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country.

Bartender was Mean

Dropped in with my boyfriend for a drink. I've lived in the neighborhood for ten years and had never stopped in. The bar itself is long with lots of stools, and pleasantly divey. There were lots of signs behind the bar saying things like "cash only" and "we only serve three kinds of drinks: whiskey, tequila, and..." (I forgot the rest). The bartender was exhorting people to have their money out and ready. So, I got the impression this is a serious drinking establishment with no fooling around asking for custom orders (I like a Sazerac made with Rittenhouse rye). It was also getting busy, there was one bartender and a bunch of people had just gotten out of a nearby movie. To make things easier on the bartender, I decided to order something off the drink menu hanging on a chalk board behind the bar. Before I could even get my order all the way out of my mouth he snapped at me that he didn't know what that was. Dumbfounded, I stuttered that it was on his board. He basically shrugged me off so I got my boyfriend and walked out.

I don't know if this is one of those places where they're snappy to customers on purpose, but if all you want is a drink without the bartender making you feel like you're completely unwelcome, don't go here. If you've got a thicker skin or just want a beer on tap, it's probably a fine establishment.

No BS, just drinks.

Was in San Francisco for vacation and lucky enough, Doc's Clock was within stumbling distance of my hotel. Great dive bar. Bartenders and the Owner went above and beyond in their hospitality. Definitely spent a couple of hours here.

Great Dive Bar

Doc's Clock is one of the coolest dive bars in San Francisco. It's dark, funky and full of eccentric locals. The drinks are cheap and strong. Stop by and experience the real Mission District.

I was here with a few friends, and we got 3$ drinks till 9 pm. The bartender was laidback and when we asked for tips on what to drink we got the response "I don't care, alcohol is alcohol". Dark, dingy spot, with tons of personality
