I've been here twice now and man, have they gone down hill. My first visit I got champagne, the steam room was clean, it wasn't crowded at all and people were nice.

This time, they apparently don't offer also looked more like a crowded nail salon than a spa and it was SO dirty.

I didn't even have a place to sit in the relaxation room because they were so crowded.

Overall, it was very disappointing and not relaxing. Also, beware of pricing on the website, they add some BS service charge that ended up adding 50 dollars to my treatment...I am very unhappy about it.

Of course, I will never hear back from them since they don't answer the phone and don't answer email.

Pit bull in the relaxation room
Apr 2017 • Friends
After attempts to provide my feedback quietly to the hotel and to the spa I have to choice but to post here since no one return my emails. My mom and I go to this spa every time my mom is in town visiting me. This visit was not so great. First of all the staff, one woman in particular was not very friendly, the spa was running late and busy, especially the front desk, and we were unable to use the relaxation area as there was a big pit bull there. The young lady with it was not blind and the dog did not say service dog on it, no muzzle on this dangerous dog. The lady claimed it was a service dog, maybe for anxiety, although my anxiety was high, I must tell you. We also overheard the lady say she was not allowed to leave the dog in her room alone while she was at the spa so that is why she brought the dog with her. I'm sorry but that is not fair to us. I heard another lady complain too to us. I wish someone would have called to apologize. At the time neither my mom or I felt comfortable going to the spa staff to complain but rather wanted to talk to a manager. I don't think we will go to this spa again. We will have to find another hotel for our quarterly massage time together.

Birthday relaxation
Dec 2016 • Friends
My daughter and I visited the spa for some relaxation on her birthday. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously from start to finish. We both had facials and massages. My masseuse Sarah and esthetician Danielle were fabulous. Our wait time was very short and everyone was very nice. My only complaint was my daughter robe had tears in it everywhere and was told that housekeeping didn't have anymore ready at that time. We will be returning very soon.

Try it for yourself at discounted rate
Jul 2016 • Couples
The I-Spa offers quarterly discount, up to 50% off. You can also find various deals on groupon, living social, and etc.

- Discount promos
- Central location
- Serves food

- Small Steam room (door doesn't close)
- Pool and jacuzzi in a separate area shared with hotel guests (you have to bother staff to let you in)
- Rust around jacuzzi
- Average Massage

Even with the discount, the I-Spa is not cheap. I do not recommend.

common sense advice:

answer your phones. if you are soooo busy that you can't answer your phones, hire a person whose sole responsibility it is to just answer phones.

voicemail: return your voice mail calls. people leave messages for a purpose.

emails: respond to your emails

i had a facial and a mani-pedi that i bought certificates on gilt. at check in, i gave the person at the desk both of my certificates.

mani pedi: very nice. four stars

facial: awful. one star

the person who did the facial was a large woman with rough hands. she started with cleansing my face, she applied so much pressure with fast motions, my face was warbling! it was like that throughout. the facial was not gentle, soothing or relaxing.

checkout: i submitted my cc for tips. i reminded her of the gilt certificates and she confirmed them. the person at the desk said she would email me my receipt. when i received the email, i called immediately to let them know that i was charged for the facial and the person answering the phone said she would transfer me to a manager. i was disconnected 5 times. i emailed my concerns about my bill.
i gave up and decided to call at 9am the next day when they opened. straight to vm, left a message. called at noon. straight to vm, left a message. called front desk of hotel to tell them that i can't reach a human. transferred, straight to vm. i emailed again
called once i returned from my trip. straight to vm. left a message. i emailed again

no one has reached out to me. i am finally going to resolve it via my credit card, which i should NOT have to do.

Never again
Jan 2017 • Couples
We were on holiday in San Francisco and a friend told us about a Groupon deal for 60 percent off for a massage at this place.
You know what they say about "too good to be true"

My wife and I planned our Friday in the city around the spa appointment, only to find out that when we arrived there was no record of our booking and no appointments for the next two days.
This place has a call center that even took our credit card to guarantee the booking.
It cost us $30 in taxi fares and they did nothing to reimburse us.

The staff blamed the call center that handled the booking. I blame piss poor management as the call center represents the spa.

Good luck getting the staff to answer the phone.
We tried five times in one day and kept getting an answering service which seldom calls you back,

We went the Fairmont instead and had fantastic massages at reasonable prices

Stay away from the Spa at this Intercontinental hotel.

New management is terrible! Be careful!!!
Sep 2016 • Friends
My mother and I have gone to ISpa for over 5 years. They are under new management and their customer service is terrible!!! The service manager "Sarah" charged both my mother's and my credit card incorrectly and then recharged our cards without authorization. Oh and the second time was incorrect too. That is called fraud! You cannot charge someone without them authorizing the charge. On top of that if you buy one of the gift certificates the small print says it cannot be used in combination of a discount. So we bought two. When we got there "Sarah" (same person) told us we could only use one. She called the gift certificate a voucher and pointed to the paper and said it read we could not combine vouchers. She lied! The gift certificate does not say it's a voucher or a discount. IT'S a gift certificate. Gift certificates, vouchers, and discounts are all different things. What the management is doing with these gift certificates is called bait and switch, which is illegal! It's a shame since the massages are always good. I will never go back and still trying to get this cleared up! Hopefully the director will be calling me soon. I would not recommend this place to anyone and hope everyone knows about this practice before going. Time to find a new spa in SF!

Relaxation while traveling
Jul 2016 • Friends
Spa time is always fun and the I Spa is great. I really apprecaited that when they called to confirm, they mentioned the Marathon that weekend and to plan accordingly, which had they not mentioned, I wouldn't have known.
From check in to leaving, the staff is very professional and accommodating.
They could use a few more brushes in the women's bathroom for those that would like to do their hair, but all the amenities are what you would expect. They don't have a sauna, only a steam room which was fine.
I got a pedicure and my friend got a massage and facial. I would definitely go back.

Upgrades Needed to be More than Average
Aug 2016 • Solo
I'm a huge fan of spa days and was really looking forward to my appointment, especially because the website made a point of mentioning that those with spa treatments could take full advantage of the fitness center, outdoor spa terrace, Swiss showers, eucalyptus infused steam room, salt-water indoor lap pool and jacuzzi.

So, I did. And I was sad afterward.

The Pool. It's not easily accessible from the locker room. In fact, one of the women at the spa check in desk had to walk me over to the indoor pool and badge me in. From there, if I had wanted to alternate time between the sun deck and the pool, I would have had to go back to the spa counter and have her walk me all the way back to the pool to badge me in again. And for what? The pool has definitely seen better days. It just looked beat up and dirty. The jacuzzi, no different. And the shower in the corner looks like it came straight from a prison. I arrived early to spend some quality time in the pool and ended up leaving after 15 minutes. Skipped the jacuzzi.

Swiss Showers. There is one. Just one. If you want to use it, you'll have to wait for it. I did. And when I got in, the handles were loose and only 4 of the six jets were "working" - and by working, I mean water was dribbling out of them. One plus - they have a eucalyptus spray you can use that activates with the steam from the shower which was a nice addition.

Steam Room. It's nice, but there was no eucalyptus like it said on their site. It was also tiny. It can fit 3 people comfortably, 6 if you know each other. If there's a bridal party sharing the locker room with you, forget about it.

They need to seriously consider upgrading their robes....

The spa services themselves were very nice. There is a comfortable, albeit small, waiting area for those receiving services that had relaxing music, cucumber water and fruit. The spa rooms were nicely equipped and had soothing music as well.

Bottom line, if you are planning on receiving a treatment or two while you're here, you'll enjoy the experience. If you're spending a few hours at the spa, you'll notice the worn down features - it won't ruin your experience - but it will take a little something from it.

Wonderful spa experience for a massage with Sarah and Skylar. They made sure we were comfortable and relaxed by ensuring all specifics were met! We will definitely visit again when we return!

Thank you!
