It’s breath taking. The tallest tile steps (170 steps plus) in San Francisco and these steps will lead you to the grand view park where you can see amazing sunset. This is a must see. You get two points with one trip. And third one the the hidden garden title steps which is just 2 blocks north. If you see fish tiles you would have found the right place. You start out either beautiful tropical garden. Once you get to the top the sunset and ocean beach view is amazing. A lots of tourist come here. And it’s in midst of a very affluent neighborhood. Make sure you come here on a sunny day, Try to come here one hour beige sunset and plan to hike up all the way to grand view park. Wear Sneakers so it’s easier on your feet. The views are truly amazing and it’s worth it.

Take Muni bus 28 or N-Juda Train to get here.

The steps are steep but lovely. The wonderful thing is that as you climb the steps, higher portions of the mosaic come into focus, and each section is a new treat. A distant picture just can't do the artwork justice.

At the top, turn around and look down to a gorgeous urban view over the bay. Then proceed across the street to your right and up the stairs (not nearly so impressive, just stairs) to Grandview Park.

After visiting the Hidden Garden Steps and the 15th Avenue Steps, we decided to visit the 16th Avenue Steps. The bottom of the 16th Avenue Steps is located at Moraga Street and 16th Avenue. The top of the steps is located on 15th Avenue close to Noriega and Aloha Streets.

These steps are decorated with tile in a mosaic pattern and are very colorful. Also, the views of the Sunset District and Ocean Beach are fantastic here. The 16th Avenue Steps are longer than the nearby Hidden Garden Steps and similar in size to the nearby 15th Avenue steps. Lots of steps today but worth a visit for sure.

As others have said, there's not really anything to do here other than walk the steps and admire the artwork of the tile mosaics, but it's totally free, and they ARE very pretty. Make sure you go up to the top for great city views.

Note: I actually visited these in August, 2018, but it doesn't let you choose the date that far back. Also, I visited with my kids who are not teens, but the only selections for family are with young children or teens.

Five stars for what you'd expect - it's a lovely little staircase! Climb it then climb a few more stairs into the park for a tiny circle walk for pano views of the city. Wonderful. Afterward, we walked down to the hidden garden stairs!

While I had heard about the mosaic steps on 16 ave near Grandview Park, I did not see them until a friend visiting from Tahiti. We loved the steps, both the design and the colors. The planted area along the stairs was also well thought of. We walked the some 150 steps to the top and was rewarded with a fantastic view of part of San Francisco and the ocean. Lucky for us it was a sunny day without a single cloud in the sky. I understand that the 16th and Moraga Tiled Steps was a community project finished in 2005. I salute the fine people of the community that created this site for others to enjoy.

I enjoy these "urban hikes", but our pre-teens could not understand why we were climbing up just to climb up. Took bus to about 3 blocks away on west side, then a different bus about 2 blocks NE to travel back (hiking up to Grand View Park in between, no reason not to hit this up while here). Lovely piece of art. One "downside" is that it is far removed from many other sites and activities - but the flip side of that is that there can be less crowds and gives a chance for some downtime. Good view of the Pacific and west side of SF, even better when you keep climbing to the park.

I have kids of all ages ranging from 3 to 21 and they all enjoyed this stop on our family tour. They enjoyed taking photos on the stairs and said it was a great stop. Parking is not super easy as many streets near there say no parking, but we found a spot close non the less. If you enjoy art and a good workout it's a fabulous stop.

Was difficult to find but so worth the time. The beautiful tiled steps are located in the middle of a neighborhood. The gardens along side the steps are well maintained and gorgeous. At the top of the staircase is a great view of SF and the ocean. We had no difficulty finding a parking spot but I imagine it might be hard at times. Was the highlight of my trip to SF

Pretty place to visit and enjoy the view. Beautiful mosaic stairs surrounded by wonderful plants . No restrooms around and lots of signs to be careful with valuable things left in the car. Recommend it.
