These are beautiful steps, all the way up to a hilltop with 360 deg. views, except in the summer when the fog rolls in and you can't see anything. It's still a lovely walk, close to 19th Ave. in the Sunset.

These gorgeous steps were tiled as a neighborhood beautification project with the help of the neighborhood, and you can really feel the love in the artwork! I came upon them as part of the Crosstown Trail, and found myself walking down, so every landing, I would turn around to look behind me, and was surprised by even more colour and beauty. I especially enjoyed the accompanying gardens running the length of the stairs, another neighborhood beautification project! I do not agree with hordes of people coming here on tour buses and crowding the area, but I suggest everyone should give the hiking trails a try, and enjoy this as a vibrant moment in your day's walk!

I was the only person here. It's off the beaten path, and you'll take many steps. If you keep walking around the neighborhood at the top you'll see a summit where you can get even better views. I took public transit here from down town and it's uphill the whole way. Being out of shape is not fun hahaha.

Was difficult to find but so worth the time. The beautiful tiled steps are located in the middle of a neighborhood. The gardens along side the steps are well maintained and gorgeous. At the top of the staircase is a great view of SF and the ocean. We had no difficulty finding a parking spot but I imagine it might be hard at times. Was the highlight of my trip to SF

I enjoy these "urban hikes", but our pre-teens could not understand why we were climbing up just to climb up. Took bus to about 3 blocks away on west side, then a different bus about 2 blocks NE to travel back (hiking up to Grand View Park in between, no reason not to hit this up while here). Lovely piece of art. One "downside" is that it is far removed from many other sites and activities - but the flip side of that is that there can be less crowds and gives a chance for some downtime. Good view of the Pacific and west side of SF, even better when you keep climbing to the park.
