For every ticket purchased through TIX Bay Area, a substantial portion of the service charge you pay goes to the nonprofit charitable organization Theatre Bay Area to support things like classes, grants, auditions, and health support for Bay Area artists and arts professionals.

We wanted to get tickets for Hop on Hop off bus
When I went to TIX counter in Union Square, they were a little more expensive
* Nicole gave us the same price as on the Web, she was super nice and helpful
She told us about the best "broadway style shows" at a great price

I went to get same day tickets for Assassins at the Alcazar theater. (the show was great, BTW). The desk staff member was polite and helpful and answered all my questions. She only printed a credit card receipt when I asked for it, but she was able to do that. What confused me was the prices. What was listed on their website was a few dollars off what we paid (we paid less). When I asked about more expensive tickets-- to get better seats-- I was told the only other price point was $100, when I wanted $35 instead of the $17 she sold me. Also, there was a $3 service charge per ticket which was never explained to me until I saw the receipt. I would have preferred a more up-front explanation of everything.

We are visiting San Fran for the first time and were told by the amazing concierge at our hotel to go to Tix for last minute Wicked tickets. The girl working, whom we were later told was named Nicki, had her ear phones in and was COMPLETELY annoyed she even had to look up from her computer to attend to us. Not only was she condescending and even rolled her eyes at our questions, she was not forthcoming with any information AT ALL!! We had to probe her just to get basic information out of her!! Needless to say, if this is the type of service offered by this company, we would recommend staying clear!!!

I had San Francisco Go Cards and wanted to pick up my bus tour passes here. I waited 30 minutes to get to the front of the queue and be served by Katarina. When I presented the go cards, she took the passes and fetched the bus tour passes, then moved to another desk and served someone from the back of the queue. We weren't finished and we weren't given a chance to ask any questions so we waited again.
Katarina came back and told us we were done before I could even talk! I asked where the other tour tickets were as we were only provided downtown tours and she told me we were done as that was all she did. I explained again, calmly, that we had go cards and we were entitled to the other tours and she said "I don't wanna fight today, I can't deal with this!".
This was extremely unhelpful and I'm really shocked by Katarinas attitude when I remained calm, albeit confused by her reaction.
As I walked away, Katarina shouted through her speaker that it was her day off and she couldn't deal with fighting. Her day off?! .
Never in my life have I experience such a bad attitude but someone working in the service sector.

Don't be fooled....TIX does NOT offer the least expensive tickets to theatre productions.
We stopped here when it was recommended by the tour bus operator. We were interested in buying tickets for the next night to Beach Blanket Babylon. Based on assurances that TIX offered the best prices for all theatre productions we didn't comparison shop and bought 2 tickets at $37 per ticket.
When we got to the theatre the next night and picked up our tickets, the price on the ticket was $26. The box office explained to us that the theatre sells the unsold tickets to the 3rd party seller and they get what they can for the tickets. We asked if we had bought them directly from the theatre would we have paid $26 each and were told yes.
To add insult to injury, the couple sitting beside us bought their tickets online that day from an on line ticket service and also only paid $26 per ticket.
Do your comparison shopping as this TIX definitely is a rip off. We have used other 'TIX' type services in New and Toronto and they do offer discounted tickets however this one doesn't seem to provide a similar service.

to get infornation about the tours.
Michelle Arce is amazing. She is knowledgeable customer service, very polite and patient.
Great services.

I ordered in advance several 2 day city sightseeing 2 day passes. Michelle at the tix booth was wonderful....processing tickets and delivering them to our hotel so that we could beginning using them while our rooms were being made available for check- in. She was so helpful with all kinds of information and suggestions.

Visited twice and got tickets for City of Angels and The Rules; both Playhouse productions. Kat served us on both occasions and was really friendly. Overheard her colleague serving others with general info questions. Both just really helpful. No queue and well worth stopping by.

The TIX Bay Area booth located at Union Square offers discounted day of ticket sales for theater, plays, shows, events and happenings around the city. It’s a good option if you are in the city and looking for options to do in the evenings and also an occasional matinee performance. They offer full-priced ticket services as well. It doesn’t hurt to look to see if anything catches your eye.
