Our local tour guide, Kevin, was born and raise in SF, and has vast knowledge only a local knows regarding the history and people of SF City. He was clear and informative as he guided our hike to the Twin Peaks area, through Sutros Forrest, then back to the starting point of the tour in the Castro district. He gave us great tips on other great places to visit in the city. We had a great hike!

Alex toured us through Golden Gate Park for small family reunion. We all learned so much about Golden Gate Park history and present, had time to visit with each other and Alex adjusted the pace for the needs of our group. Everyone had a great time- both locals and out of town visitors!

Super fun and informative hike. My teenaged daughters were a little salty about getting up early (again) to hike (again) but they had a great time. Our route was such an interesting mix of streets, trails and hidden stairways. We heard a lot of history but it was unlike any other tour!

My apartment organized a guided hike of Golden Gate Park with Urban Hiker SF and I lucked out by being the only attendee that showed up! Kevin was a very friendly and informative guide. I learned so much about the park and learned some things that I would have never known had I not taken this tour! Some of the highlights of the tour for me were hiking up Strawberry hill, Shakespeare Garden, redwood grove & the Japanese tea garden. I had a great time and learned so much, I have a greater appreciation for this beautiful park too! Thank you again Kevin!

I have to say that Alex the tour guide/owner makes Urban Hiker such a fun and educational experience. I was worried at first because I am not in the best shape and felt I would slow down the tour. However, Alex was very patient and made sure that all of us were comfortable. I learned so much about SF and seen many areas that no tour bus would take you to. I loved Urban Hiker SF so much that I booked four in all. So if you want to learn about all areas of SF, not just the touristy areas and get some exercise as well, I would suggest you book a tour with Urban Hiker SF.

My wife and I had an amazing time with Kevin. The hike truly delivers on their promises. It was amazing to hike through the “concrete jungle”. Kevin did such an amazing job guiding us through the city, giving us information not just on the tourist sites, but also on lesser-known places such as the different stairwells and reserves. I really appreciated how Kevin gave the history and an idea of what life was like in contemporary San Francisco. My wife and I also loved hiking through the hills and reaching places that were reaching via car or bus. The hike through the forest area was such a nice addition. Seeing the nature side of San Francisco gave us a truly complete view of the city. This hike provided more than the average tour through the tourist and lesser-seen sites; and through the amazing guidance of Kevin. I would highly suggest this tour to anyone considering it!

Can only recommend this hike. Our hike was well guided by the affable and knowledgeable Val who lead us through streets up forrested trails and down hidden stair cases. While foggy right at the top ( this is SF ) unique views and perspectives of the city where provided. Val also recommended an intimate and cool jazz club which we thoroughly enjoyed

This tour was one of the highlights of my trip to San Francisco. Whenever I travel I like to hike to scenic spots and this one was right up my alley (so to speak). It was really worth taking the tour because, on my own, I would never have been able to find such an interesting route through varied neighborhoods and parks and even an urban forest. Our tour guide Val was very knowledgeable and his commentary added a lot to the experience. Highly recommended.

I love San Francisco. Having just one day in the city, I wanted to see the side of it I didn't see before. I made right choice with this tour.
It was very pleasant walk in small group. Alexandra provided interesting comments their and their without overwhelming us with too much of dates and fact, just perfect. The views are beautiful, it's in the city but remote from all the noise, very quiet streets and trails.

My husband and I are locals of San Francisco for all of our lives. We decided it would be fun to learn more about the hidden trails and history of the city in which we live. Faris was our guide and it was a 3 hour trekking hike around the Castro area up to Sutro Tower and Twin Peaks. Faris showed us many little hidden stairs and hidden neighborhood hills with beautiful views of the city. We loved listening to the old history of the neighborhood. I was happy I had my hiking boots on. The hike had some gravel trails upward. It was a nice workout for the day! I would highly recommend this tour whether you’re a tourist visiting San Francisco or locals like us!!
