Have not been here in many years..place is same and it’s a nice space at the top Of a very busy mall. I used to do shopping days and then come here and stay a few hours..or break up a commute day by coming here after work..I had a gift card this time and a few sat which is highly unusual but was underwhelmed overall. The black and white Betsy johnson feel Could use a refresh and Therapist I had was new to this line of work ..and I could tell. I am not one of these picky spa goers and gosh there is no such thing as a bad spa day of course..but if you are over 21 and have been to a treatment or 50 over the years...you come to understand how someone works out the knots in your shoulders or knows appropriate pressure for calves or handles draping discreetly. She was nice and I appreciated it..and like I said the warm towels and bed and any amount of massage..yay..thank you..I am so lucky. The facility is spotlessly clean which is essential -thank you. like the hot tub and steam room, I wish towel hooks and entry to hot tub were better placed...the products /restrooms and showers are all well stocked and hi end -they have everything u could think of from hair ties to deodorant and mouthwash .. I think another set of creams and deodorants and such in the hair drying area would make sense so you aren’t back and forth as much. Eucalyptus in steam Room Would be nice as well. And not putting people On top Of one another w lockers is a basic they seemed to Miss today...it’s always awkward at the gym Or spa to Be on top Of your naked neighbor reaching for your shoes or whatever. It happens on weekends when it’s busy. Lockers also not large enough for the kind of shopping I do :) the monthly program here is great if you work Near by. I was a member years ago.. you pay a tier fee that gets you a discounted treatment or spa access of some Combo that works for you.. great if you are on foot because parking is not validated at mission street garage nearby and it gets to be $30 If you make a day of it. I have been many times on a weeknight when it’s so quiet which is heaven .There is an excellent theater there on same level....the sound will rattle spa sometimes..fun if you could leave properly spaghetti feeling after a massage , clean and warm In your sweats and hit a good movie? No make up or nails here . I like the Pasadena location of Burke Williams a lot and Santa Monica has improved post remodel.

Wonderful spa experience

Wonderful spa experience. We were running a little late but the aestheticians quickly welcomed us and helped us relaxed. Facial was fabulous and my husband enjoyed his deep tissue massage. Ask for Lisa and J.R.

Great Facilities / Awful Massage
Oct 2018 • Solo
I have been to Burke Williams before. I was impressed with the Spa facilities with the large steam room, sauna and hot tub. It was quiet and clean and the towels and robes they gave you were great. My 25 minute massage was good although was unusual as the therapist was blind and had a seeing eye dog to guide her but that was just quirky.

So I decided to go again. I booked an 80 minute massage and it was awful. I was politely greeted by my therapist Tim and shown to a quiet and clean treatment room. I was booked for a Swedish massage which is supposed to relaxing. It was not. First Tim’s hands were moving at a pace I would call frenetic. No long smooth strokes but aggressively attacking my back. He did focus on the area that I did what focus on but it just got painful. Thankfully he moved on. Attention was paid to other areas but his rough handling took a toll. Once back in the locker room I discovered my arms and legs had broken out in a heat rash due to his aggressiveness. Basically I am not relaxed and two Tylenol PMs were needed to get to sleep.

I would love to go back to Burke Williams but only for the Spa. Not for the massage

Lovely massage and facilities

I really enjoyed my experience here. It is very pricey but for a special occasion it is worth it. I had the 80 min Burke Williams massage which was very good. She focused on the areas I requested and increased pressure when I asked. Nice toiletries in the changing rooms!

Great place for a day of relaxation

This is a place for an all day affair. I find the front desk to be hit or miss but the entire experience is well worth it. Come hours prior to your service and nap in the quiet room after. Spa facials and massages are your best values here

Clean spa and spacious

I love Burke williams in South Cal, and this was my first visit to their spa. I wasn’t really impressed as much as their Vallejo location. It was pretty clean and only few guests. Their jacuzzi is good size, lots of towel available. It is great way to end Sunday afternoon relaxed. Make sure you try their refreshing herbal tea.

SIT BACK AND RELAX!!
Dec 2017 • Friends
I had a great experience here! The vibe is relaxing, the location is great and the employees were friendly (well most of them). My sisters and I scheduled a spa day here and we were so happy we did. We were greeted by the manager, who was super friendly and informative. We relaxed in the whirlpool and sauna prior to and after our services. We were so relaxed at the end! They have a nice vanity area that was well stocked with supplies.

My masseuse Pam was very friendly and very good at getting all my knots out. She even added a complimentary enhancement.

We had such a relaxing time that we joined the membership and plan on monthly spa days!!

The only negative was the person who scheduled our next appt. She was not very friendly and seemed a little irritated she had to schedule us. Despite this minor issue, we are excited to return!

YOU MUST TRY IT OUT YOURSELF!!

Sanctuary in the heart of the city

A colleague recommended I visit - so I got straight onto the website to find an appointment. The online booking made it so easy .. I just chose my date and treatment and all the options were laid out. Make sure you arrive a good couple of hours before your treatment as there is a fab hot tub, steam room, sauna and relaxation room to enjoy (and use after the treatment). Fabulous massage (deep relaxation) .. pricey but this is San Francisco! I really enjoyed it here ...

Tranquility Amid the Hustle and Bustle
Jul 2017 • Couples
My husband booked us appointments for the Relaxation Massage with Hot Stones during our anniversary trip. When arriving at the spa, we had no idea it would be tucked away inside a shopping mall (located on the fifth floor by the movie theatre - NOT in the Nordstrom side)! But what a surprise! The space was so tranquil and serene. The jetted pool, steam rooms, and locker facilities are all separated by sex, so clothing is optional in those areas. There were private showers with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in each one; there was also a vanity area with hair styling tools available for use. My massage was incredible - my masseur was wonderful and devoted time to each of my trouble areas (my shoulders and lower back). I left the spa feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I would highly recommend this spa!

Membership bait and switch
Jun 2017 • Solo
Very negative experience. Massage therapist no show after waiting 30 minutes.

Came in Sunday June 11, 2017. Was coached by staff to sign up for Deluxe Membership which comes with 1 80 minute massage per month for $170. Signed up, paid, then was told my massage for the day was only 50 minutes. Ok whatever but def a red flag early on. Things got worse, went back to kill time in the locker room. Found out the hot tub was closed for maintenance. Went to steam room but it smelled very bad, def due for a cleaning. Went to use the shower and found all the soap containers on the floor and not in the cubby hole in the wall. Ok whatever, but another red flag.

Changed and went out to wait for my massage therapist in the waiting area. I waited for 30 minutes. I saw all the other guests come out and wait and get picked up by their massage therapist. A lady came up and got my name and verified my 10am appointment. After 30 minutes waiting I finally realized nobody was coming to get me. I went back into the locker room to change back into my street clothes. I was told on my way back that my massage therapist did not show up. It would have been nice to know that 30 minutes ago. I was offered another massage therapist that uses a service dog but I am allergic to dogs so was not able to take advantage of that.

Upon leaving I was promised that the managers from Burke Williams would contact me but nothing. I went to Equinox on Market Street and got a great massage there. Equinox does a great job and I purchased a 10 pack of 90 minute massages from them.

What a waste of $170 at Burke Williams. I will be counting the days until my 6 month contract is up. Yes total bait and switch. Purchased 80 minute Deluxe membership but no massage.
