    Terrific Park
We arrived early on a Friday and parked in the garage; we’d seen and heard about so many car break ins that we were afraid to park on the street. I wish we had a few days to visit the various components but settled for walking the length just to enjoy the scope of it and the beautiful trees and flowers. I think it needs better signage at almost every intersection.

    Looked Amazing from the Bus
We didn't hop off but passed through the park as part of the hop on hop off bus tour. Park is very large and looked well cared for. There are food options available and a ferris wheel too.

    Fabulous green place
I visited the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco in May 2023. I visited the Park with some friends. The Golden Gate Park is a gorgeous place to visit. It's an absolute must-see and it's advisable to visit the Golden Gate Park if you're a plant lover as the Park has over 5000 species. Plan on spending a few hours there since the park is huge. I would recommend to take the bike rentals with children because it can be really exhausting trying to walk everything on foot. It was a nice place to take pictures with my friends and it's definitely worth the effort. It's just one of those things that you have to visit while visiting San Francisco. There's no need to bring a jacket as the Park has three inside museums. I would advise to wear a jacket when it's rainy or cold though because a large part of the Park is outside.

It was nice to see the park, but it is nothing special...overall there are 4 places located in park that you should visit. We were told that we will spend 2 hours maximum to see entire park, but ended the walk after more than 4 hours, exhausted, thirsty and there was no place where you could by some drinks, and we even were not able to explore all the good sights.. We have visited Conservatory of Flowers and we loved it! De young museum & Japanese Tea Garden are amazing, definitely we did not regret visiting. California Academy of sciences is so much fun, we went on night tour the next day and it was great experience, so many young people just hanging through the museum. Stow lake and Huntington Falls will for sure be something to experience on our next visit to SF.

Fabulous urban with lots of museums, gardens, and other attractions. You could focus a long weekend trip just in the park and not run out of the things to do.

People always want to know... is it safe, particularly after dark. Yes, absolutely, if you stay on main roads. After dark in the winter you'll see plenty of commuters on foot, bike, and scooter on the main roads like JFK Drive (which is closed to cars) and lots of folks along the music concourse.

There are even things to see after dark in the winter. "Winter Lights" runs until 10 pm December through February. The Sky Star Wheel and the bandshell are just two things that are lit up gloriously.

I would not, however, wander onto the smaller dirt footpaths after dark. It probably isn't 'dangerous' but you could encounter some 'unsavory characters."

The park is huge! It has many smaller gardens and attractions within. We had a toddler so we visited the Koret Playground and the Academy of Sciences which is wonderful for kids. We were there beyond the traditional summer holidays (mid Sept) but they did have a concert and a play in the park on a Sunday afternoon. Would take the whole day to do proper justice to the park. At the eastern end you can enjoy the beach.

We walked downhill from the top of Twin Peaks to the eastern end of the park and walked all the way through to the western beach end. We must have walked 8 miles in all. The park is 3.5 miles long, but the end to end walk is much longer as the paths are windy. Lots to see as you stroll through including the Bison enclosure, Japanese Garden (entrance fee), windmills, botanical garden, conservatory (entrance fee), dahlia garden etc.

If you're looking for a quiet place to go for a walk during your trip to San Francisco, this is definitely the place to do it. My two recommended activities in the park would definitely be the hike up Strawberry Hill and sitting on a bench along Stow Lake. Don't underestimated the size of the park: I was there for almost two hours and still only explored about half of the park.

The park is huge and exquisitely designed, full of special spots each one unique. Come here for museums, culture, nature, design, outdoor fun. Do some research and find what interests you. A bit difficult on public transit, as you will do a lot of walking.

Golden Gate Park is one of he most beautiful and scenic city parks that we have ever visited.

Be sure to check out the SF Botanical Park as well as the Japanese Tea Garden. They are both worth spending some time walking around in.

The Golden Gate park for San Francisco is like the Central Park for New York city. Besides serving as city lungs, it also provides a place the surrounding residents to do various outdoor activities safely in a refreshing atmosphere. It is also a nice place to stroll around and enjoy the various gardens in there.

I fell in love with this park on a long ago visit as a teen. During grad school, I was lucky enough to live across the street and often escaped there to re charge.

Now when I visit the city, the park is always on my list of stops. I go early in the morning to savor the verdant lushness of the Botanical Garden, and to watch the city awaken to a new day.

There's so much to love about this place it would be impossible to write enough prose. I'll just say it's San Francisco's gem, and I'll keep on coming back to enjoy the many and unique offerings.

I enjoy walking my dog in the park regularly and recommend it for tourists when the weather is nice out. There are so many parts to the park, i.e. the Rose Garden, Hero's Grove, the Ferris Wheel, The DeYoung Museum, etc. You could spend all day in the park.

Be aware that you shouldn't bring anything of value and leave in your car. I recommend parking in the museum garage or along Lincoln Avenue as it is busy.
