There is so much to do and to see here, and for us, we enjoy exploring it each time we visit the city. On this particular visit, we visited the Conservatory of Flowers and the butterfly exhibit, the De Young Museum, the Japanese Tea Garden, and the AIDS Memorial Grove. We also came across a "Swing" Pick-up dance class in... More

The Beach Chalet fields are great- excellent for soccer or lacrosse. Bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained even during large events. Great walking paths and beautiful park. Small parking lot at Beach Chalet fields. Arrive very early if you want a spot, otherwise you will have to park on the street. Short walk to the beach. You can also... More

Similar in its rectangular shape (but east-west positioned, unlike south-north Central park) and 20% bigger than its Eastern brother, the Golden Gate Park is SF lungs. It occupies an enormous area and with all attractions inside it cannot be visited in a day. Just like in NY central park, there are many ponds, lakes, museums, aquariums and botanical garden. Nice... Great walk out in the fresh air, about 4+ miles. Walk, Jog, Bike, plenty of space to move around, not crowded at all.

Golden Gate Park comes across as being like Centrakl Park in New York but on a smaller scale. We used Public Transportation, Bus #5, from downtown and got off around 8Th Avenue. Even though it was raining we spent about 2 or 3 hours at the DeYoung Museum and then about 1 hour at the Japanese Tea Garden- having lunch... More

I have been here many times for many reasons. Walked from the Haight to the ocean. Visited the Botanical Gardens. Visited the DeYoung Museum. Played sports. This is a fantastically beautiful jewel in the midst of San Francisco. Lots of beautiful flowers and trees. If you're coming to San Francisco, remember to wear flowers in your hair. Academy of Sciences.... More

While it was raining on the day we went out we enjoyed the hiking through the park! Coming from Minnesota in January we wanted to spend as much time as possible outside, so despite the 50 degree weather we loved it. The trails were well maintained and a lot to see. Definitely recommend!

There are acres of picnic grounds and hiking paths. An outstanding rhododendron grove dazzles when in bloom. There is a Japanese tea garden and the De Young art museum nearby. The Academy of Sciences and a band stand where concerts are given free of charge draw large numbers of visitors. There are more attractions in addition to what I've mentioned here... More

Beautiful park, lots to see. Would recommend renting bikes to ride around the park and see all the different spots and even make your way down to the beach. The gallery and museum in the park are a must visit also.
