On our last full day in the city, we took the electric bus out to this beautiful park. Bigger than Central Park in New York, it was peaceful especially in the botanic gardens, even though there are cross-roads across the main park.
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time of planning on visiting the park because it’s huge! It’s well worth a visit though. A beautiful park with lots to see and do.
During on stay we walked around Stow Lake and Strawberry Hill and then...More
We walked it from one end to another, it's a lovely well kept park, however what was disappointing was a charge for the Japanese tea garden, another for the botanical garden and yet another for the conservatory of flowers. Then if you wanted to go...More
Rent bikes, visit the museums and arboretum, or relax on the grass. Perfect with kids and a respite from City activity. Lots of homeless on the Haight-Ashbury side, but not so many deeper into the park.
Loved this beautiful park. We really enjoyed it although a slight disappointment was the entrance fees to most of the attractions there - great FREE view from the De Young Tower.
San Francisco should be rightly proud of this parkland
Golden Gate Park was much bigger than I expected. Accordingly, there was a lot more to do and see than i thought. The entire park is very well kept and clean.
My family and I started out at the old Dutch windmill. Much bigger than...More
Golden Gate Park is a gorgeous area with lots of different gardens for families to explore. There is a Chinese garden that I think is free before noon but a charge to get in after that. Also a playground for the kids. My 9 and...More

Depends how. I think to walk to would take an awful long time and please don't forget about the hills. It will turn any nice walk to a nightmare. It will cost $50 in a cab or uber, you're going across town. When I went, I took the hour long bus (cab would take you a half an hour anyway - we took cab there cause I was tired, but bus back). I got a 7 day muni pass that got me unlimited rides on cable car, streetcar and buses for like $45. Paid for itself in the first day. You can buy it right at the airport where baggage claim is. I recommend the public transportation highly, it runs well and is priced right if you are looking out for that sort of thing.
