Awesome park
Sep 2021
We went all over this park. The only downside is the cost of entering some sections. We paid for the Japanese Tea Garden but would have been better to have paid for the conservatory instead. The trail to the ocean was nice as were the windmills and gardens. Also the lake island.

Fantastic place, just don't park there.
Sep 2021 • Couples
Strolled through the botanical garden (check for free admission days). Ate lunch at the Japanese Garden. Beautiful...and amazing, too much to see in a single day.

Tip: don't park your car there.
Out-of-state license plates and/or rental car tags work as neon "break-in" signs.

When we were there, along MLK drive, many cars had there windows busted in and property stolen. Apparently, on a regular basis, gangs drive thru, with amazing speed, smashing and grabbing as they go.
Note: doesn't matter if nothing is visible, they bust the window and access the truck thru the back seat.
Police were helpful after the fact, but prevention of this sort of crime appears not to be a high priority for the city.
So, by all means, visit the park. Just don't park your car there....

Beautiful Area

Lots of areas to explore. Loved the Japanese Tea Garden. Could spend a couple days exploring this area if you love plants and gardening

The park is so full of things to do: Museums, an arboretum, a green house, gardens, groves, playing fields, lots of places for picnics, hikes, bike riding, horses. buffaloes!

Tranquil park
Nov 2020 • Couples
The Golden Gate Park is home to the world-renown California Academy of Sciences, the tranquil Japanese Tea Gardens, and the oldest glass and wood Victorian greenhouse in the western hemisphere, where more than 800 live butterflies flitter around you as you stroll through the home of over 10,000 plants from around the world.

San Francisco’s version of central park.
Aug 2021
This park was absolutely beautiful. Filled with open spaces, Museums, botanical garden and a tea garden. It’s a must visit.

Huge, Beautiful, and Relaxing
Jul 2021
Golden Gate Park has a lot to offer. First the park is huge - bigger than Central Park in New York. The park has several gardens that can be toured (for a fee). The Japanese Gardens are amazing, even though they were packed with people the day we visited. I wish there were a few more dining options, but the hot dogs from the hot dog stands fill the belly while enjoying the park.

Well Named
Aug 2021
The park is truly Golden, a blessing/gift for San Francisco. There's so much to do and see, from museums, to the Japanese Garden to the Botanical Gardens to just ordinary lawns to enjoy and places to walk/run, skate or bike. We spent hours there and had walked so much we were exhausted. I would definitely go back. And I almost didn't mention the Ferris Wheel and the paddle boats, and there are supposedly bison in there somewhere. Go!

Beautiful but dangerous! Frequent car break in’s!
Jul 2021 • Couples
Be careful, lots of car break ins around this area. It’s a beautiful park but it’s dangerous to leave your car here, especially a rental car. I went to visit the California Academy of Sciences, parked on Nancy pelosi drive, came back to my window smashed. I didn’t have anything in the car, the thieves tried to look inside my trunk but it was empty. I knew they were mad to do all this work to find nothing. I was very unfortunate to park here, this was the only time I parked on the street in SF, other times, I park in a garage. So be careful and park your car in the lot to be more safe! These break in’s happen quick!
