We stopped here for a sample of fudge as a part of the City Clues Adventures scavenger hunts. They were so nice at the shop and the fudge was so delicious that we ended up purchasing quite a few different fudges to bring back to the hotel for that night's dessert. I also found some fun gifts to bring back... More

When in North Beach- you can't miss this landmark - a candy taffy fudge and knickknack store ! It's got barrels and barrels of salt water taffy and sweet treats you can possible think of ! The folks working the store are also cool and laid back ! Their shelves had knick knacks like tin can lunch boxes, toys and... More

We were looking for a little something sweet after a picnic in Washington Square park and walked in here on the way back to our hotel. Grabbed a chocolate cake creation to go and thoroughly enjoyed it back in our room. Delightful variety ion the case, but this day we were looking for chocolate...and it hit the spot!

During a recent walking tour of San Francisco eateries, we stopped here for dessert. Before entering the shop, you could smell the scent of chocolate and caramel popcorn. Inside the shop there were candies I recalled from my youth. Bit o honey, Neco wafers and a host of others

Located in the heart of San Francisco's North Beach, Z. Cioccolato is a "must stop" if your sweet tooth beckons while in the area. Fudge is at the heart of Z. Cioccolato. They sell it in the store as well as select outlets throughout SF. There is also plenty of taffy and specialty/touristy candy as well. So is this just... More

This place is awesome! We went on a Tuesday around 2p and the guy working was awesome! He was very friendly and talkative. Also, he gave decent sample sizes and wasn't annoyed at all the flavors we wanted to try. He also told us that if we bought a box of four, he'd throw in a fifth for free! We... More

The first thing that hits you is the great smell. Amazing assortment of fudge and candies. The staff was very helpful and provided tastings. This was the best maple fudge I have had in years.

The fudge tasted amazing as did the caramel corn, but even more deserving of praise is excellent customer service...generous taste tests, helpful tourist advice and service with a smile. Well done! Danielle & Lachie, Western Australia

Just popped in here while getting off our tour bus and had no idea what a little gem this store was. First off Patrick was outstanding, he offered lots if samples to our boys and let them do a fun salt water taffy "taste off". We bought a bag full... It was delicious! Their carmel corn is amazing, grab a... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
