Fun stuff

This is a great place to bring your animal and to chillax by the cool waters of the bay. Picnic too if you wish.

If you are looking for historical remains of Fort Funston, you will be disappointed as not much remains. This is more of a park for the locals to enjoy and take their dogs (since dogs don't have to be on leash at this park). But for tourists, there are much better sights to visit in San Francisco.

Used to be a coastal defence installation early last century, but not much is left to see. The daredevils jumping off the cliff on wings is pretty cool however...

Located on the bluffs on the ocean, this onetime coastal gun and missle battery with relics remaining is a wonderfully large, open and delightfull space where well socialized dogs of all size, breed and description may run free off leash. Many hiking trails and in warm weather, beach access.

Fort Funston is so close to the City, yet when you are out walking here you feel far away. Even Lake Merced suddenly looks like a natural lake. On a clear day you can enjoy beautiful views of the California Coast and walk down to the beach. Best is seeing the greatest selection of 4 legged friends.

We walked down to Fort Funston on a bit of a spur of the moment trip. Great views and a nice walk along the water. Definitely a serious incline going up and down (as in, for every two steps forward it's one step back).

Beautiful place to run, hike, walk your dog, fly over the cliffs on a hangglider and watch others who do this.

By far the BEST dogs park in Bay Area. Magnificent vista, very roomy, clean and safe. Excellent place for socializing both for dogs and owners. Highly recommended.

When you combine a beautiful beach and a place where my four legged child can run free, you have one of my favorite places on the planet. My furry sidekick and I both LOVE this place. Go on a sunny day (68 degrees or higher, low winds). It's one of my favorite places in the entire state of California...maybe even... More
