Ideal for all productions!
Jun 2013 • Friends
The stage is so close that you really feel connected to what's going on. Every song becomes more pleasant to the ear, every emotion becomes more amplified, and every scene becomes more electric.

It's a great place to watch any production!

Frisco Fred's Holiday Magic and More!
Nov 2012 • Family
I really enjoyed Frisco Fred's combined comedy + magic show at the Alcove Theatre. The venue was cozy and informal --no one was seated more than 15 feet from stage -- making it ideally suited for audience participation.

The show was clean and family friendly, but Fred's humor drew laughs from everyone -- parents, grad students, and two giggly 5-year old girls. It was certainly a refreshing change from the last comedy show I went to, which relied on 4-letter words, gay jokes, and a two-drink minimum to get the point across.

San Francisco revealed
Oct 2011 • Couples
Hot off the train from Chicago we only had two days to get under the skin of this singular city. We stumbled across "Absolutely San Francisco" online and bought tickets whilst the stage was being set up for the evening performance. This is a hands on production and the performance matched our welcome from the company. The story is clever, and its several outcomes are only gradually revealed as the play progresses. The acting and singing is energetic and convincing. The audience was very responsive to the humour, anger and pathos that we experienced along the way. We left knowing a lot more about SF and very grateful for the quality wine from the al fresco bar..

Honest, real, humorous, serious... Absolutely San Francisco had it all!
Aug 2011 • Friends
From the kind, very pleasant staff, to the fantastic story and wonderful plot focus, I have to say that this is the best play I've ever seen. Not only were the topics of interest to me, they were right in-line with my own, real-life issues. It is safe to say that I identified with this performance, and that is truly rare! FANTASTIC! I highly recommend that everyone with the ability to fathom interesting concepts, and laugh at the unbelievable direction that our nation's morality is headed go see this! As a producer myself, not of plays but of music, I have an understanding of quality when it comes to creating something. ABSF has it down!

Sincerely, MightyBender (Ben Sandler - ThievesGuildRecords - and huge fan of Absolutely San Francisco!)

Really enjoyed this well written and entertaining show.

I'm a 3rd generation San Franciscan and really enjoyed everything about this play and the playhouse. Wine, videos, very energetic performance, extremely well written, some very catching songs that we couldn't stop singing for the next few days. A wonderful atmosphere to see a play. Very friendly. She brings the entire audience together for an enjoyable 100 minutes or so. Sunshine is a breath of sunshine. We highly recommend this for native San Franciscans or any tourist who wants to learn more about San Francisco and get a feeling for the people and history.

Hi Michael D, Just thought we'd use your wonderful review as an opportunity to thank you and thank all the great people who have taken time out of their days to share their wonderful thoughts. Little theaters like ours really thrive on this electronic word-of-mouth, and it makes us very happy and proud to hear that our work has made a positive impression. That's what it's all about. Thanks a million to you all!

"Absolutely San Fransisco" is an absolutely must see
Aug 2011
We had the delightful experience of seeing Karen Hirst in “Absolutely San Francisco” August 1, 2011. My wife and I and six others drove to San Francisco from Los Angeles to see the sights and take in a few plays. Karen was superb in the range if her voice and the depth of her portrayal of the many characters she played. If you have a trip to San Francisco planned, and want some great entertainment, I would highly recommend “Absolutely San Francisco“!

A wonderful experience for locals and tourists!
Jun 2011
Being a relatively new resident of San Francisco, this show was not only highly entertaining, but educational as well. The references and humor are well crafted so that tourists and SF veterans can both have a good laugh. The Alcove theater is beautiful and intimate. Every seat has a good view. As soon as my parents come to town, I'm taking them to this show!

Educational Parody from People who live here
Jul 2011 • Friends
This show displayed some comical, yet completely accurate depictions of the city that had a heavy dose of education mixed in. For those who live in San Francisco, the elements shown are more true than the commercial stereotypes. Defintely a good value for those who want to see the "real san francisco".

This theater is independent and sometimes hard to find...so walk into the space next to ruby skye and go up the elevator to the 5th floor.
