Friendly staff; super clean rooms; nostalgic furnishings but wonderfully comfy beds. Located on the corner of Lombard and Union Streets, it is a healthy walk to Fisherman's Wharf and the top of Lombard Street where the iconic curvy, hilly street intertwines through fabulous landscaping and homes. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at Cow Hollow. Like most hotels in that area, there was no fitness center and no pool, but the fitness starts when you hit the street to walk around the fabulous town.

The rooms are large, with comfortable beds and adequate furnishing. The location is perfect for our needs. It's near Chestnut Street where there are many good restaurants and shops. Our room faced a courtyard overlooking ISA restaurant's tented area. Until 10ish at night things are pretty noisy there. There's ample free parking which is a major plus in San Francisco. The rates are a bit high but much lower than the downtown area hotels.
