Westfield Mall in downtown San Francisco is a great shopping experience. Several large departments stores such as Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom's are housed under one roof as well as many smaller specialty stores. Security people, looking more like doormen of upscale hotels, greet shoppers at each main entrance to the mall. The food court offers a wide selection of fresh, healthy... More

We enjoyed walking through this shopping complex as it was very open and clean. Shops included - Bloomingdales, Champs, Adidas, Norsdram, H&M just to name a few. On the lower level is a fantastic food court area, where even the fussiest eater could find something. Purchased some great smelling handcreams.

Its very close to union square. You can reach it by cable car getting off at last stop and walk a bit. There are so many good brands inside but prices are little high.

It's just a big mall in the center of town. I'd save your time, and spend your money at more local shops.

It is a good mall to shop for every price range. Plus it has a good food court with a large selection of places to eat for lunch, dinner or dessert. There is some security walking around but be careful of pickpocketers or purse snatchers. Rumor has it that they found a dead person in the stairwell of the mall... More

It's really just a mall. There are a lot of shopping options, but it doesn't feel very San Francisco. Not worth stopping by if you're just here visiting. Many more "authentic" experiences around.

Westfield is your standard shopping mall with a hoard of big name brand shops right on Powell street, if you've come to SF to shop than this megamall with its 6 floors of luxury outlets is the place for you!

My husband in I stopped by this amazing mall in our stay in San Francisco a week ago. The setup, the escalators, the stores, we loved it!!! Food court is on the floor below. Food is delicious. It reminded me to Vegas... Lol

I am not a mall person. Ever. But...I do volunteer work at the cable car turn around at Powell and Market and need a place to take a quiet break. The Westfield mall is my go-to place! Do I shop there? Rarely. I did snag a darling pair of shoes marked down to 3.50 (can you believe it?) at H... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
