I needed a sweater for those chilly SF nights. This mall was a short walk from my Union Square hotel. It is anchored by Nordstrom. There are a couple of sit down restaurants on the 4th floor. There is also a beautiful domed ceiling on...More
I usually come here for work on the top level for events - in the space called "bespoke" so I rarely spend much time shopping. I just don't really like shopping.
If I lived nearby I would probably end up here though.

I visited this location on a lazy Sunday afternoon while staying at the Parc 55 Hotel as it's walking distance and of course this girl needs to get her 10,000 steps each day. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't nearly as crowded as other...More

Basically it is San Francisco. The city itself is extremely liberal and do their best to take care of their homeless. Therefore they attract a lot of homeless. Some of the homeless are that way due to bad circumstances. Some of mentally sick. Either way, you need to watch out after sunset no matter where you are in the city.
Every city has sections where you do not want to be after sunset. It just so happens that SF has a lot of those areas due to their policies. Being forewarned is being forearmed.
If Market Street freaks you out that much, then I would avoid all of San Francisco at night.
