3 of us went for a 2 hour raft along the city front near the bay bridge including at&t park-- the view from the water is amazing and this location for kayaking is ideal. Plus the staff/owners are great and really take care of you explaining the tide, where to row, what to wear (they have kayak clothing as well),... More

Wish I could write a review about my kayak adventure but nah, I was discouraged by the owner to even go out on a kayak. I bought a groupon, called the place to book a kayak they didn't answer, tried booking online, didn't work with groupon, so I went in person to reserve and they said with a groupon, I... More

This was a fun way to see a portion of the city of San Francisco. It took only 2 hours so it's easy to fit this activity in if you are spending the day in the city site-seeing. It was especially fun to paddle to McCovey Cove. I highly recommend this activity.

We have been out twice with city kayaks. The equipment and instruction is great. We have kayaked under the Bay Bridge which is pretty cool, seals coming up next to us to see what we were doing, amazing to be under the shadow of a big bridge in a tiny boat, but some waves. We also have been to see... More

We were surprised everyone wasn't doing it. Easy trip options that would.be good for first timers, or you can go out into the bay and under the Bay Bridge. It is so nice to see SF from the perspective of the bay. Our hotel hadn't heard of city kayak so we almost didn't make it there, so glad we did!... More

I happened to be in town on business for game 4 of the World Series. I remembered the excellent experience I had with City Kayak about 6 years ago. Again, they were professional, efficient, and reasonably priced....all leading to a great bucket list experience of kayaking in McCovey Cove for a Giant's World Series win.

1st time kayaking but we were in good hands w/Ken & Jemma; they gave excellent instructions on how to, when to and keep a watchful eye on us while on the bay. We had an exciting trip to AT&T Field & listened to the game from renowned McCovey Cove; how exciting that was to hear the roar of the crowd.... More

My low rating is not for crazy currents or a disenchanted kayaking experience because we never actually hit the water. My low rating is for the truly dismissive and unaccommodating service that we received at City Kayak. My Yelp reviews are typically glowing and usually forgiving of little mishaps here and there, but there is nothing redeeming about our experience.... More

If you know how to kayak and are comfortable out on the bay without any supervision, then check out City Kayak. You show up, are given either a single or double kayak, and then go out and spend a few hours kayaking on the water. There isn't really any guidance on how to kayak or supervision, but if you're comfortable... More

This was a really fun and easy group activity. One of our group was an active 85 but had never kayaked before. The instruction was good, it felt safe, and the views were lovely. We took the family tour and it was perfect. What a great way to spend a morning.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
