Stopped by to check out the changes. I had been there my first few times in the 1950s and 1960s, and a couple of times since then. For those in the military passing through San Francisco to the Pacific, this was the place to relax...More
This was a highly recommended lounge for the view. Unfortunately, Karl came rolling in and we saw nothing. Of course, this isn't the fault of Top of the Mark. This is an average bar, the service was good but the decor was a bit tired.
Top of the Mark was mentioned in all the most recommended places to go in San Franscico. I was a little skeptic a lot would be touristy but it felt very friendly and personal.

Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that
followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
