We made the mistake of going down at night (about 10:15pm). There were a few tourists walking around and past Pier 7 entry so we started walking down it. About 1/4 along the pier on the right hand side there appeared to be three homeless...More

A little bit to the side from the more touristy spots, Pier 7 hides behind the Financial district. It is worth the visit though, since the views are great in all directions. You can look out over the bay of course, but you can also...More

Nice Wharf is especially for photography lovers, with good views of the harbor, downtown, the skyline and the Bay Bridge. It is a very strategic point for good shots and a nice walk.

This is a nice pedestrian walking pier that gives a good view of the eastern waterfront. Probably one of the nicest piers for pedestrians on the eastern waterfront (pier 14 is good too).

Pier 7 is just that - a long, wide pier. But, there is a hidden, understated flare to it. With benches on each side and street lights dotting it all the way to the end, it can be very romantic for a stroll, especially in...More

The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian

neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds
for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North
Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

That sounds lovely (and I'd love to be there), but it may not be possible. Final decision is with the port authority: 415-274-0400.
