Lyom Street steps are easy to fine. Amazing views of the bay. Windy though! Don't let tge sun fool you. Uber was tricky to get on way out. Had to walk toward main street.

Enjoy this little-known climb
Jan 2020
A fun thing to do in San Francisco which not many visitors know about is walk up Lyon Street steps starting from Lombard Street, just north of the Palace of Fine Arts, to Broadway. You get to personally experience one of the steeper inclines in the city, some great views across the bay, and the chance to walk right past the front doors of some of the finest properties in the general Pacific Heights area.

Too many athletes
Jan 2020 • Couples
We decided to check out these steps on a Saturday morning. Unfortunately, we spent the majority of our time dodging the weekend athletes that use them for their own personal gym! The views of the bay are beautiful as are the surrounding houses on Broadway (Billionaires Row) but it may be better to visit later in the day?

Nice View (and Cool Stop for Fans of Tommy Wiseau's "The Room")
Sep 2019
My husband and I decided to stop at the Lyon Street Steps when we were in town to see Metallica's S&M2 because it was a shooting location for Tommy Wiseau's "The Room." We actually had no idea they had a beautiful view and were a somewhat popular tourist stop until we arrived and saw two tour buses stop by while we were there.

Visiting the steps is free and there is street parking on the residential streets nearby. They're worth a look if you're in town!

Really liked this place
May 2019 • Solo
Visit this place on a sunny day and you will love the view. It looks great from the top! You can see the city and the ocean. Then you can go down the stairs and see small houses hiding in the trees.

Beautiful view of the Marina from here
Mar 2019 • Solo
As I explore SF, I found these steps to be a good cardio walk starting at the top. If you are young at heart, start at the bottom. Just don't walk the steps, take the time to stop and look around Pacific Heights and the view. I was lucky the day I arrived, it was a nice cool (not foggy) day.

Please remember, this is a residential area, and not to disturb the neighbors.

Steps with a View
Feb 2019 • Friends
Lyon Street Steps is my favorite spot in Pacific Heights. After living in the neighborhood for more than 25 years and countless walks to the steps, its magic on me has not waned. You will not see Golden Gate bridge from here but the view of the Palace of Fine Arts and Alcatraz is unparalleled. There is a continuation on Vallejo but the steps are narrower, steeper and a lot less celebrated except by fitness enthusiasts. Many Bay Area residents bring their guests here and you can see some tourists on their own. But mostly, joggers run up and down the steps early morning and late afternoon. The best time to visit is when the cherry trees that line up the steps blossom. With climate change, it is hard to predict exactly when they would bloom. It could be late February or anytime in March, and it lasts for only a few days. A lot of people are surprised that there is a mansion adjacent the steps. The current owner is Senator Feinstein. Other notables on this block called Gold Coast or billionaires row is the yellow mansion of the Getty's where President Obama used to visit, and Oracle's Larry Ellison's modern big house. If you feel like communing with nature, the east gate of Presidio is just here. This location has everything. What more could you ask for?
