I remember my parents taking me to Gumps when I was very young, and was always fascinated by the jade collection and all the beautiful pieces of jewelry. Today the extensive jade collection is no longer on full display, but the jewelry and unusual high-end products are worthy of a stop to experience old-time San Francisco. There is a giant Buddha that faces you when you walk in, be sure to take a picture by it.

This is a local piece of history going away in mid December. The store is a must visit and if you are lucky you can buy a piece of the original stores fixtures they are selling. Some great antique furniture from "the old store" is available. The hours are limited to 10-6 but worth a visit.

If you come from another country and want to buy something special for your beloved, then this is the right place for you. The staff is attentive and very helpful too. Though some stuff is quite pricey, it’s worth.

This 150-year old store is a SF institution. With a primary focus in home-furnishings, here you will find fine china, exquisite crystal, full silver service sets as well as every kind of bric-a-brac and accent pieces possible. While the store is nicely laid out and a great place to window shop, just know that everything is high-end quality with prices to match.
