Beautiful location

I'm a member and enjoy in particular it's scenic location and the frequent special exhibits. The current show "Monet the Early Years" enlightening and beautiful. Very well done.

The building is big and impressive, located in Lincoln Park. It houses a permanent exhibition and also seasonal exhibitions. We visited the "Monet early years" collection of paintings of the famous French artist and were surprised by the richness of the exhibits. Highly recommended!

Rodin features strongly here. Excellent location with views of the bay and fabulous exhibits. Monet exhibit: best to order tickets ahead to avoid the line. Also a fine place for lunch in the cafe. Or if you're on a budget, bring a picnic and find a nice view just down the road.

We decided to go to this because it was also included with the admission from the DeYoung museum. We were so pleased we did. The art included European masters and there was a great display of Egyption artifacts. The grounds and building are spectacular and offer some amazing ocean views. It was easy to get to with public transport. It... More

Came out to the Legion to see the Monet exhibition and also toured the rest of the collection. Monet was exceptional and worth the trip. The rest of the collection is interesting (I would just give it a 4 star rating on its own) and if you have been to these types of museums in other big cities in the... More

Don't miss the Monet exhibition. See the works of the man who helped create the Impressionist movement. An amazing collection of his early works assembled from all over the world. It's fun to see his early paintings when he was only 17. Do your own analysis of the ones that were rejected by the Paris Salon. The exhibition also gives... More

Not only is the permanent exhibition beautiful, but each room is a pleasure to walk through. The walls could be empty and I would still enjoy going through the building. There is a nice café downstairs with a patio. Nice place to grab lunch or dessert and coffee.

I had no idea. I expected a stuffy "rah rah US!" and instead walked into a world-class museum. Schedule at least 3 hours.
