Made a quick stop to Crissy Field on our way home. Heard this was the best spot to park and see the Golden Gate Bridge. Recommend going when it's not quite as foggy out, but definitely a good recommendation. It's also a great spot to see Alcatraz. Parking is free as well.

Tourists think SF will be hot - it's not and the ocean is frigid, but the beaches are gorgeous, dress in layers. Great walk along the shore, always lots to see. If you like trampolines, rock climbing and pitching baseballs/softballs or learning to swim, all of this is here, too.

Views of Alcatraz, Sausalito, and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. A beautiful beach (very clean) which is a fantastic place to people watch, bring a picnic, or go for a stroll. It can get windy so bring a jacket (especially in the summer when the fog rolls in). Also, fun to watch the kite surfers and sailboats. My favorite beach... More

This is a great way to walk along the ocean and also a bit of SF history in the old grass airfields.Nice for a family or an individual.

Crissy Field is a stretch of land along the shores of the San Francisco Bay between the marina and the Golden Gate Bridge. It is about 100-acres and was once an Army airfield back in the 1920's. The locals use this recreational area as their beach. You will see people walking, jogging, bicycling, and enjoying the scenery that this area... More

This is one of my regular spots to escape inland heat. I like that the water is nice and calm, so safe for kids to play in without worrying so much that they'll be swept out to sea. Lots of parking, bathrooms, and food - my 3 criteria for a great kid-friendly location and Crissy Field has it all. We... More

Very relaxing place to stop if you've been walking through Pacific Heights, Marina or The Presidio. Lots of people walking, jogging and participating in beach activities. Not really anywhere to have something to eat or drink. Great place for photos of Golden Gate Bridge.

A must stop for history, and/or war buffs. If you are at the Bridge, stop, it's worth it even if you are not into history.

It's a field. You get great views. Why go here unless you want your dog or children to run around and you want to have a picnic. Or unless there is a special event taking place here. Great for the nature lover.
