This is where I got married in December of 1977. I've done jury duty here. I've voted here. I've paid my taxes here.I've watched brides take their wedding pictures from the steps of the rotunda. It is stately and majestic and this is part of my San Francisco experience.

An amazing space with such great history. While it is an active working city hall, there are murals, photos, and statues throughout the building.

The architecture of this building was beautiful. There were several weddings going on while I was there which was interesting. Spent about 45 minutes exploring the different levels. Free access.

When I told my friends that we needed to go to city hall while on vacation tn San Francisco they were a little annoyed. After you go through the metal detectors, you walk through the entrance to the grand hall. What an amazing sight! It feels as if you are in a cathedral in Europe! You can take an elevator... More

While waiting for the Asian Museum we had time to pay a short visit to the City Hall. Impressive neoclassic architecture, 5 minutes from the museum.

San Francisco City Hall may look like any other City Hall but if you actually take the time to explore the history of it, it's actually rather fascinating. The interior is also gorgeous. Would recommend.

One would not normally think of great architecture in American City Halls. San Francisco's is a big exception. It is a mammoth building and beautifully done. The inner rotunda is massive and a great backdrop to the many weddings going on all the time, It has great people- watching in addition to a building of classic design.

My best friend got married here on a beautiful Saturday morning. It was my first time going to San Francisco City Hall. I wish I had bought a quality camera because everything inside of City Hall made me think of Europe! Definitely, the star attraction is the Grand Staircase where the ceremony was held by the officiant. It was a... More

Staying in Civic Center

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
