Beautiful old ornate building

Great for a quick walk around inside & outside. City Hall is on a nice plaza that also has the Library and the Asian Art Museum.

Not a must see but its cool to pass through if youre around the area. Great classical design, high ceilings and marble etc. Heaps of brides to be and young latino girls getting their photo taken for their wedding and quinceanera

The San Francisco City Hall is an attractive building that occupies a great location and is easy to access while you are doing the sites in the city. If you are into architecture you should take the tour.

This could be the most beautiful building in the city. We love every details in the building. This is a great visit for any lover of architecture! The history about the building is amazing, many famous people had married there. Every day many couples go there to take their marriage pictures. It is an amazing bldg. You can't miss it,... More

The San Francisco city hall is gorgeous! I called it the people's city hall because the city rents the city hall as a venue. From Wedding Receptions, to Special Birthday events, the Black & White Ball, to High School Proms - the SF City Hall is used for all sorts of celebrations. It is really is beautiful and a must... Who knew city hall could be so beautiful. But it is. Added bonus is going there on a Friday when it seems bursting with bridges and grooms tying the knot. And you can stop over at the make shirt food court, I mean the food trucks in front of city hall to grab a meal. It's a fun outing and... More

You don't usually think of a City Hall as a great destination...this one is different. Built to impress, the grand staircase has hosted countless society events. And even was featured in a very famous movie.

So glad we stopped by for a few mins to check out the rotundo area. It's breathtaking - the scale and carvings are just spectacular. There were several newlywed couples taking pictures by the stairs.

If you like European architect then this is a place you don't want to miss in SF. Thee exterior and interiors is amazing but be cautious with the neighborhood unfortunately there a lot of homeless people and they beg for money and sleep around these streets not sure why the city has not corrected this issue.

Staying in Civic Center

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
