I organized a sail with RUBY Sailing and Captain Josh for a team offsite at work. We went for a 2-hour sail at 2pm on a Thursday. The weather was perfect, and the experience was phenomenal! There were 26 of us, and we fit on the boat very comfortably. Working with Josh prior to the event was quick and easy. He was always accessible by phone. I paid at the end with a credit card, again very simple. I was worried about motion sickness issues within such a large group. Some people took Dramamine, but overall was great. Captain Josh is a wonderful guide, and we felt safe in his hands. He and his crew were more than patient with our rambunctious bunch. My only advice to future large groups is to plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to sail. We tried to arrive 15 minutes prior, but our shuttle ended up picking us up late, and then a couple people decided to drive last minute. Parking is difficult to find around the area, especially if there's an event that day at Chase Center, so this snowballed into us being able to spend less time on the water. Plan ahead and this won't be a problem!

When in San Francisco and you have the time check out Ruby Sailing "China Basin Charters" for a 2/12 sail on the bay that includes lunch. 415-861-2165 I live in the city and sailed with Capt. Pryor a few weeks ago and plan sail again later this year with friends. When i went the wind was blowing and we really felt the bays waters as we sailed under the Bay Bridge.

Our group of eight people went on board for the three hour sail from San Francisco to Sausalito and back. We had a great experience and enjoyed sailing on San Francisco for a reasonable $50/person charge. There was a total of about 30 people on board, so moving around took some maneuvering, but was not too bad. With this experience, be prepared for wind and to get a bit wet. Bring layers of clothing. You can go below, where beer and wine are sold and sandwiches (included in the price) are available, but you will miss the fun of sailing on San Francisco Bay. If you want to avoid the worst of the spray, choose a seat towards the stern (back of the ship) where the captain's steering position is. There was a quick safety briefing and then we were off sailing. We had a sunny day with a nice stiff breeze, so could enjoy the sailing. The trip back from Sausalito was less wet/windy than the trip out. Do understand that this is a sailing trip, so the boat will heel over, there will be wind and wetness. If you are looking for just a boat ride to see San Francisco and the Golden Gate from the water (without the wind and water) then look at Hornblower another provider. The Ruby is located by the Ramp Cafe, which is a nice place to get a drink and/or a meal before or after your sail.

Heart Felt thanks to Captain Josh for the very special day on his sail boat RUBY. Everything was perfect from the moment we stepped on the boat. He is full of patience and knowledge about all things under the water, above the water, as well as the islands, and bridge gossip. RUBY is beautiful and well stocked with just the things one wants to spend a crisp and sunny day on the bay.
