Walking distance from where the Alcatraz Tour leaves from. Found street parking, and the meter allowed for over 4 hours. Location is awesome! We sat outside overlooking the bay. There were seals swimming around below us! Fish & Chips were great, and a massive portion. Fries were homemade. Always a plus. Chowder and Bacon Mac & Cheese were great as... More

Get there early, or make reservations. Will definitely go back on our next visit. I was a little unimpressed with the crab/shrimp sandwich... But We all liked the kale salad, peel and eat shrimp, mussles/clams (get some extra bread for dipping), and calamari (sauce was good, but we like cocktail). It was a sharing meal.

We happened upon this place on our way to another destination. We decided we liked the allure of the 70s/80s music playing into the street so we grabbed a few beers and sat on the patio to take in the atmosphere. Was a fun location, can't speak to the food however staff seemed friendly and helpful.

This place always has a good crowd. Be patient and you'll be taken care of but you shouldn't be in a rush. Calamari & burgers are really good. Portions are large and definitely can be shared. Location is awesome- on the water but away from the busy area of pier 39.

When visiting SF, I have always enjoyed eating at Pier 23. Yes - it's along the touristy area, but the food and ambiance is worth it. The seafood selection is usually quite nice. And if you show up without a hat and are seated in a sunny area, they have brimmed hats you can borrow while you are there.

This restaurant was recommended by a local. Bad Call. The selection was very small. I really wanted good fresh shrimp. I had to settle for a crab and shrimp sandwich because the only shrimp dish they was some sort of thai shrimp. The sandwich was bland and very dry. My husband ordered the catch of the day - mahi mahi.... More

Had been walking around SF all day and had seen this bar as we passed through so decided to go in for a quick drink. Service was fast and beers reasonably priced. Definitely worth stopping by as there is a beer garden with decent views!

My husband and I came here for Valentine's dinner. The food was okay. We started with the cheese plate and then I had the clam chowder. The service was slow and there wasn't a very hip or romantic vibe. There was a great band in the bar that we were looking forward to listening to and dancing to after dinner,... More

The cafe is ideally located in the tourist zone of San Francisco on Emarcadero. It takes just a few minutes to walk to the cafe from the famous Pier 39 with its hundreds of sea lions sunbathing in front of spectators or from the ferry station. There are indoor dining halls in this cafe, as well as an open terrace... More

Visited here several times and found the food was great, drinks reasonable and the view was exceptional . Looking out across the bay added to the enjoyment of this bar.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
