This is a lovely spot in the middle of the city where workers appear to sit outside to eat their lunch. There is a Martin Luther King Jnr memorial fountain and lawn, trees and benches. We walked through after visiting SFMOMA as it is just across the road from the Museum. Good spot to take photos of the SFMOMA building.

Yerba Buena is the jewel of downtown! Lo's of stuff for kids and adults - gardens, an ice rink, a carousel, the MLK Memorial and waterfall, beautiful green spaces, performance spaces, and great museums all around. Enjoy the heck out of it!

A beautiful oasis in the city centre. Waterfalls, fountain, statues, open space and walk ways with seats. A great place to sit in the sun and watch the world go by.

Just a few steps away from Mission, you'll find this oasis of peace. Very nice in between shopping, but even more beautiful at night.

We enjoyed our pastries from Mr. Holmes' bakery here. The weather was perfect and the park has plenty of benches to sit. The downside is that, like in most parks, there are many homeless people wondering around. It is right in front of the Modern Art Museum, which is a good next stop.

I was lucky enough to stay for 13 nights in the SoMo area, Yerba Buena Gardens is a little slice of serenity in the big city. Lush grass with the pop of beautiful flowers, water falls and trees add to the over all pleasure of the area. It made for a perfect spot to go outside from the convention center... More

We walked through Yerba Gardens as we left SF MOMA and we were entertained by some interesting music -- it was a mix of opera, rap, and classical. People were relaxing on the grass, walking behind the waterfall, and just enjoying the gorgeous late Spring weather here in San Francisco.

Not quite as dirty as the rest of the city. The architecture is great, the water feature is beautiful and the plants are interesting.

Wondering in this garden is so much fun especially on a beautiful, SF day! It is great for sights and walking. I lunched at Samovar which is a lovely tea and light eats restaurant in the upper garden which has a lovely outdoor area. I love their teas, juices and healthy eats. I just love it!!

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
