Stow Lake is a fun diversion in a city full of so many great things to do! There is always lots of free parking around the lake even when all of the main streets are packed with cars and tourists. Bathrooms are usually clean. It's...More

The pedalo hire at Stow Lake is well worth it, an hour will do fine for a gentle pedal around the lake among the geese, gulls and turtles. We absolutely loved it, great break from the city and a good laugh.

After a full afternoon exploring the Flower Conservatory and California Academy of Sciences, we wrapped up our visit to Golden Gate Park with a nice stroll around Stow Lake. We had fun looking for the turtles lurking in the water near the shore, and looking...More

A wonderful man-made lake in Golden Gate Park. An ideal spot for simple meditation, picnicking, or a stroll. Either pass through on your way across the park, or stop a while, walk the trail, cross the foot bridges, and stop at the pavilion and waterfall....More

It's nice, but's it's really not a lake per se. It is a ring of water around Strawberry Hill. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that. Just don't expect to do any waterskiing or other similar things on this "lake." :-)

Peaceful place at the beautiful Golden Gate Park, where you can do hiking among tall trees or have a boat ride around the lake. Those hungry after the pedalling or rowing can have refreshments at the Boathouse. They have (a bit) more than the normal...More

My husband and I rented a pedal boat there after our visit to the Japanese Tea Garden. It was about $29 or $30 (I believe) for an hour. It was so relaxing and easy to pedal around at our leisure. We saw ducks, turtles, and...More

My husband and I stopped by Golden Gate Park for a few hours of quiet before flying out of San Fran. I've always wanted to rent a pedal boat on the lake there, and we finally did this go around. It's a little pricey by...More
