Absolutely beautiful vistas
Mar 2021 • Friends
A wonderful way to get exercise and explore the beautiful coastline of Northern California. The California coastal Trail winds up and down the oceanside shore and takes you through some of the most stunning vistas in the country, perhaps the world. At times, you'll feel like you're on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, staring out at the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean.

And now, especially during Covid, this is a fantastic way to get outside in a safe, socially distanced way.

Must do tourists and locals

This hike is a must do for every local and tourist. It's a combination of very well-groomed Trail, well-maintained stairs, Beach, and bluff with amazing view.

I did this hike after walking the entire width of San Francisco on California Street. the sun set while I was on the trail. depending on your location, you may or not be able to see the sunset, but the colors are beautiful toward the Golden gate Bridge none the less.

Nice Area for Walking With Views: The Coastal Trail, San Francisco
Dec 2019
The coastal trail is decided to be a trai all along the coastal areas of California.
This time we just did a very tiny portion of it by Sutro Baths and Lands End in San Francisco.

Great Trail with Stunning Views
Sep 2019
My husband and I did part of the Coastal Trail but made the turn to Land's End Labyrinth. The views from this trail are stunning. There were gorgeous views of the coast and the Golden Gate Bridge. We also saw beautiful flowers along the sides of the path. We climbed down to the beach and took in the rock formations and the Pacific as it crashed along them. There were tons of piles of rocks along the shore, as well as Land's End Labyrinth to appreciate. Climbing down to the beach and back up was quite the workout. We look forward to traversing the whole trail next time!

Perfect for hiking, running or just a stroll

Surprised this trail doesn't have more reviews, stunning views. Numerous trails that branch off that take you to various vantage points and batteries, so much to see. Lots of history here, the ocean and tons of green space. One of my favourite spots in San Fran.

Beautiful walk

We walked this trail from lands end to Golden Gate Bridge and it was absolutely stunning views the whole way. Really good terrain, fairly long so can be challenging when the heat is high, but would definitely recommend.

Great for hikers
Feb 2019 • Couples
We completed the long but enjoyable walk from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Richmond District walking alongside the waterfront, climbing the slanted terrain of the Golden Gate and Pacific overlooks, observing Marshall Beach and finally walking along the nicer Baker Beach. Offers terrific views and fresh coastal air away from the loudness of the traffic crossing the Bridge. Definitely worth setting aside at least an hour to drink in this area of San Francisco.

A must do in San Francisco
Dec 2018 • Couples
We hiked part of the California Coastal Trail, running through San Francisco in the period between Christmas and New Year and loved it. It's a long trail - more than 1200 miles/1900 km running from Mexico to Oregon, with a number of sections running through San Francisco. We started our hike at the Sutro Baths, exploring Land's End, walking along Bakers Beach and through the Presidio to the Golden Gate Bridge itself. It's a well marked traill with good surfaces for the most part, unless you want to head off to the various beaches off the trail, whereby you may have a few stairs to climb.

It truly is a peaceful walk, where you can connect with nature and appreciate the fantastic views. I would suggest walking West to East to the bridge for the best views (as your facing the bridge the whole way). Well worth a few hours of your day.
